Goldcar (Pisa) Advice please

DD1 is in Italy, they have hired a car from Goldcar for the duration. Collect & Return Pisa airport.
I've since looked on here to see several 'bargepole' suggestions.
As they are already there, is there anything I can make them aware of to minimise any hassle/expense ... without spoiling their holiday!
Cheers

Before they take it back double check the fuel policy and if they have to fill the tank up, get a receipt and take a photo of it by the mileometer on the dashboard with the petrol station in the background.
When they drop the car off take lots of photos and videos of the returning condition of the car.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Thanks
I presume that they are reputed to contest fuel levels and accident damage!
Anything else??0 -
They may find that Goldcar Pisa are not as rapacious as their Spanish colleagues, the methods and intensity of their notorious behaviour seems to vary among locations.
The last time I hired a car at Pisa airport I reversed it into a rock with quite visible consequences, but although I had not purchased CDW excess cover from the hire firm their staff were completely unconcerned when I returned it. This was not Goldcar, I forget who, but it may indicate a general lax attitude at Pisa.Evolution, not revolution0 -
Not sure if these people are related to Firefly who operate out of Pisa, but we returned the car with a full tank of fuel only to discover their policy was return it empty. They could see it had a full tank, they still insisted on charging us for a tank fill at extortionate rates. They wouldn't release the chunk of credit they had reserved on our card until my OH paid.

Why do people rent from skanky secondary operators about whom there is little but stories of dubious behaviour? I've rented a dozen cars over the past few years from Avis, Europcar and Hertz. I've got excess insurance, but I've never had to claim on it (and presumably, nor do many people, given how cheap it is). I just take the car, return it full of fuel, that's it. I've just had a car for a fortnight in the US: two minute wait in the Preferred queue, no discussion about insurance, off we drove. Return took 30 seconds. Why would you rent from skanky companies when it's this easy not to?0

I *think* she looked on MSE
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-car-hire
and then chose the one which told her it was the best value.
I don't think she has ever hired a car before either in the UK or abroad.
Some people don't spend as much time on research as maybe you and me.;)0 -
OK
Everyone is home 'safe and sound'
She found the best priced car hire on a 'comparison website'
She chose 'the best insurance' whilst still in UK
In Pisa she had to give her C Card details
She returned the car and keys and nobody has (yet) inferred that there will be any further charges ...
Will report back if there's any bad news, but, fingers crossed!!0
