The point of my post was simply to advise the OP that most people see nothing at all wrong with using the term Hoover to describe a vacuum cleaner.
Bravo Hermione. theonlywayisup was coming across as an awful boorish pedant, and you seem to have shut him up rather deliciously. I would probably get banned if I appended the three words to his username that I am considering, but I am sure you can use your imagination.
