Selling electrical item on shpock

Hi, I sold an electrical item (cordless Hoover) on Shpock a couple of months ago and now I am being contacted by the buyer stating that it does not work well. When selling it was in good condition and only got rid as I was given a Dyson Hoover by my parent. I would never sell anything that was not 100%. What are my rights if the buyer is now asking for a refund (after 2 months)??? Please Help. Many thanks.

  • Assuming private sale, buyer only has right to complain the product wasn't as you described. After two months of using a hoover they don't have the right to a refund.

Shpock, as far as I'm aware, is cash in hand and sold as seen, no returns the same as Gumtree is.

Buyer has no right to a refund.
  • I was totally shpocked to hear about it!!! :D

  • Instead of communicating with them send them a link to one on sale at Currys that they can buy....followed by a smiley face emoji.

Or you can ignore the kids, they go back to school soon.

OP, how were you paid? On a side note: Dyson's aren't Hoovers, they are vacuum cleaners.

As true as that may be, the word "Hoover" is used by many people as a generic term for all makes and models of vacuum cleaner.

Just do not reply to any communication. If it is a private sale and they paid cash then they do not really have any chance of forcing you to refund. Every time you reply gives them hope you will refund. Just keep ignoring them and they will give up eventually.

It's like when people say 'Tannoy' when they mean public address system/alanpartridge

Yes, as true as it may be, it isn't correct. A vacuum isn't an Hoover. But I check/write contracts for a living. I "do" the minor detail/smallprint.
