I've just bought some Lidl washing liquid as it was even better value per wash than powder. From memory, I think the brand name is Formil. I have used it before and been pleased with it but it was very good value this week.0

Thanks for the washing machine tips everyone. I'll give those products a try, and also greenbee for your tips about cleaning the machine. I didn't realise the products could make it worse. I'll see what I can do to fix it.If you know you have enough, you're rich.

I've been up with the lark and out buying some essentials. These included aldi ground coffee at £1.69 (I usually buy taylor's at £3.49) and some aldi cat pouches, fruit, toilet roll, things like that. I also treated myself to some alpro soya milk.
I'm drinking the coffee right now :coffee: and it's delicious. Great find.
OH went to Lidl yesterday and got us some bread for 21p, and a few other bits including a bottle of red wine for £2 (seriously?), cat food that purrball seems to love (score), washing gel stuff for £1.69 and an 89p pizza. The wine and pizza went down well last night. We used to spend £25 on dominoes.
The total spent this month so far is £32.27.
£217.73 left
This is really making me realise how often we have to go shopping when we don't do a big weekly shop. I know it's not rocket science, but sometimes you just don't realise. If you know you have enough, you're rich.

What was the name of the wine ani fan? Never been brave enough to try the really cheap onesweaving through the chaos...0 -
phizzimum...I chucked the empty bottle out and didn't pay loads of attention to the name so I'll find out and get back to you. I'll definitely have it again. I'm usually a blossom hill drinker, so quite mild and fruity, this one was even more so and very sweet, if you like that kind of thing, which I do.

I'm leaving early tomorrow to go to a work conference for 3 nights so I won't be back until the weekend. If the wifi is good in the hotel then I'll update, but it's all paid for by work so nothing to declare from me, probably. OH is home alone with the budget and under strict instruction to save all receipts.
I haven't spent anything since the last update. We ate out twice this weekend, a lot for us, because we have a visitor, but that came from the entertainment budget.
I hope OH doesn't go mad while I'm gone.If you know you have enough, you're rich.

Morning ani*fan & money savers,
Just a update from me,
I managed to buy some quorn mince in the co op yesterday,
2 bags for £3
Also, smoked salmon & cheese sandwiches reduced to 39p (for hubby's packed lunch).
And then used a £1 off voucher.
Ani*fan, I noticed you got your cat some Aldi food pouches, but sometimes it's cheaper to buy tins of cat food instead as you get more for your money, Aldi pouches work out £
1.46 per Kg, but Sainsburys tinned cat food 0.96 per kg.
this is what I started doing for our dog who will only eat cat food
Obviously it depends on what your pet will eat but I thought I'd mention it.Kindness costs nothing

And about the boy cat, he is an old man now with teeth problems. He doesn't chew so well, had a couple of teeth out lately and is losing weight again so I increased his pouches from 1.5 to 2 since he's not eating biscuit any more. I know, dry food is cheaper. I'll keep an eye on him and see how he manages with what.
I have two aging cats too (16 and going strong) and I would say if he's loosing weight then definitely up his food amount - mine are big cats and 2 pouches a day wouldn't touch the sides! If I let them they would probably polish off 4!
As it is they get 2 a day with free access to dry food (James Wellbeloved bought online on offer in bulk!). However teeth problems would obviously put a stop to that for your old man. If he hasn't put weight back on since you posted this (sorry I'm catching up!) then I would take him back to the vet, he may need a check up again on teeth and renal functions.
I would say if push comes to shove then I would put up with the pricey food for his comfort - it's not OS I know, but they're our babies and sometimes there is more to it than just money
