Hi All,
I've noticed as of late a found smell within the washing machine upon opening the door, can this be rectified?
Thanks

Set your machine for a hot or sanitising cycle and add a cup of white vinegar to the drum. The vinegar will help to sanitise your machine.Let the cycle finish. Open the door and air-dry the inside of the drum. If any bad odour or residue remains, repeat the process.
also we leave our door open a bit , never close it shut, and the detergent drawer open a bit as well
hope it helps0 -
Thanks for that feedback.0

After reading reports of mould in door seals etc, I make a point of keeping our washing machine door open whilst it dries out. Take the dispenser drawer out and make sure it's clean.0

In our household we add soda crystals to our wash, apart from a good stain remover for the clouthes, it also seems to keep the machine tip topTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0

When did you last clean your machine? Or at least clean/empty the filter?0

Instructions for our (Miele) machine recommend running a very hot cycle occasionally, so wife collects white cottons that can take a hot wash and does them about once a fortnight, also using Calgon or similar. Never had any funny smells from the machine. Also recently found a product in Tesco specifically to clean washing machines (like the dishwasher version), OK was a bit of a pfaff using it to clean the seal then the detergent drawer before using the rest in a hot cycle, no clothes, but it seems to have done some good (if only because it made me remove, dismantle and thoroughly clean the detergent drawer!).0

I remember many years ago changing the bearings on our machine and when I got the drum apart had to scoop out handfulls of horrible grey sludge. It is mainly caused by the modern cool washing that does not successfully dissolve the oils and fats absorbed into clothing.0

The above advice is correct, a hot rinse should solve most of the problem as the smell is usually caused by bacteria that the cooler cycles don't kill. There's also some cleaning stuff called Dr Beckmann (I think) that I've used in the past that sorted the issue out well.0
