OS Daily Thursday 25 August

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All

Thanks for starting us off Gers, hope your travels to and from Glasgow are good, the weather seems ok today but not as sunny as yesterday.

DD picked me up from work yesterday and I dropped her of at her BFs not far from my work so was home by 5.30, expected it to be much later. I sat in the garden reading till about 7, cut the grass, had my tea, a shower, put the washing on and set the DW going. Sat down just in time to watch the Bake Off, one of my favourite programmes!

Stripped my bed this morning, will put that out when it's finished, DW emptied and salad made for lunch.

csarina - I really hope you get sorted with your OH soon, you must be exhausted.
Hope everyone else is well, take care. XX

Morning everyone.

Looks as if it'll be another fine day.

After trekking up and down to Glasgow yesterday today I'm doing the same. I'm picking up a local woman, taking her to hospital for her regular MS treatment ( have no idea what), picking up my visitor from the airport and then my 'patient' wants to go to MrA's in Dumbarton and then the drive home.

I really enjoyed GBBO last night, it was like meeting an old friend again. :rotfl:

Tonight will be, I really hope, Chinese takeaway and something to wash it down and a good old gossip with my visitor.

Lainey - it's good to take time for yourself. The situation you're in will take a bigger toll on your own well-being than you'd think possible. I hope you enjoy your day 'out' and your evening.

csarina - you've got more than enough on your plate so some breathing space would be good. I sure you'll make it happen.

Right, have to make a move. Happy Thursday everyone.

Hubby's been dropped at work with his packup, I'm about to wake up DGS and take him home, once there I'll feed and water the rest of the DGC's get the littlest up and dressed and then stay until DD2 gets up.
I have no plans for today, I will have a nana nap as I didn't sleep well last night, I still have no information as to when/if hubby's friend is arriving. I will do some housework and list some more items on eBay and buy some eggs.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all, thanks for the thread Gers. Sounds like you have a busy day ahead xx

csarina - I hope you manage to get all the help you need with DH. It's important to be able to leave him in safe hands whilst you take a break. Hope you get something sorted out xx
Lainey - hope you enjoyed your evening out xx

Still no news on DHs job, although the company have a management meeting on a Thursday so it could be we hear today. I have been invited out with the girls for dinner tonight. Probably a £40 night out as boy can they drink. I have the money, but if DH gets good news I'd rather celebrate with the family.

DS1 is just up - he is not enjoying the labouring - blisteringly hot the last two days. I've told him to keep going as its only another two weeks until the work is done - think of the money! He has also come out in what looks like disco eczema, so will get a docs appointment set up.

Two loads of washing done and dried yesterday and I demolished the entire ironing pile too. It's not fun ironing in the heat :(

Caught the end of GBBO - never watched it before but might be a convert :)

Have a good day all

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Gers x

Cloudy and slightly damp here, boy did we have a storm last night, lots of lightening and heavy rain. We sat in the conservatory part of the pub so could see a lot of the show! Had a lovely evening with my pals, obviously told them about DM and being two of my closest friends they were extremely supportive but also we had a lot of laughing and reminiscing, just what I needed.
In fact yesterday was so nice have decided to have today off as well :) with the long weekend as well this will mean I get a good break, that toxic place is the last place I need to be.
I spoke to Mum yesterday and she had also had a good day, her chiropodist had been out to do her feet and then she was off to a WI meeting in the evening so time with her friends. Her brother is coming for the day today and then my brother will pick her up for the BH weekend. We have a family get together planned for the Monday, been in the calendar for months, looking forward to seeing all my cousins etc.
Csarina, good for you in standing up to the PTB and doing what's right for both of you.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Morning :hello:

Scampi has started guarding me again, I thought we'd got past that. I've started taking him out to the front garden for 10 minutes at a time, 2-3 times a day and although he still reacts to someone walking past, he's calming down a little bit. I think he'll always be wary of strangers though. On the plus side, his mate Shep popped round, they ran around the garden then played fetch with each other, it was so funny watching them invent their own game :D

It's very wet here so what with two walks a day and a few trips to the front garden, I'm expecting the floors to be wet and muddy all day. The mop is on standy :D I have two big piles of clean washing to put away and some wet washing to hang up, once that's done there will be no more housework for the day. I want to get this last bit of work done, concentrate on calming the velociraptor and eat chocolate :D

• Morning (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Yesterday was a good day. Nurse came just before lunch. OH had. Slight dizzy, I made him recline his chair and it went off.

Gas people finished about lunch time, we now have 3 holes one in the street and two in the garden. We have to wait for the filler ins to come, fill in the holes and repair the damage.

Step son was supposed to come last night, ended up not coming, his son turned his ankle playing football, so he had to take him to get it checked, just a sprain. They are off to Scotland until Monday.

Nurses did not turn up last night, we waited until midnight, then put the light out and went to sleep.
I need to have a word with the daytime nurse when she comes.

Raining this morning, we need it, will save me watering the garden. I need to go and pick beans.

Good to see bake off on again.......

DD2 returns from Greece today so I expect she will go to her flat do some washing then hopefully pop home for the weekend for some mummy cuddles she is a student nurse in her final year and works extremely hard as an HCA as well as studying to take the pressure of DH and myself financially . DD1 is home from Florida on Tuesday and I will be collecting her and her boyfriend from the airport . I need to get my mojo back as I seem to be stuck in a rut so I will be giving myself a good talking too today.

Morning all,

Csarina glad OH had a better night but :mad:about the night nurse.
Coxy hope you hear about DH job soon.
Lainey glad youre having a rest and Mum seeing friends too.I had a similar situation with my Dad and a toxic workplace/boss,& it became too much for me to cope with when Dad got worse ,I'm afraid I gave my notice in after 1 particular meeting, couldnt stick the sarcasm, changing my hours etc.It meant we had a lot less money but we manage, and I got to spend precious time with Dad :A

Grey here today,we had torrential rain on Monday and had a foot of water in the cellar when we got up-cant wait for these road repairs to start. 3 of the neighbours had about 3ft in though & the insurance had just paid out for them to be redone a 2nd time, how mant times does this have to happen till the council make a start,we're on pins every time it rains.

Anyway, off to town shortly for picnic provisions,we're off to Cartmel races with friends for my birthday on Saturday so looking forward to that.I've just bought a new waterproof coat in readiness:rotfl:
Take care everyone xx
