Barclaycard Plan B

Hello all!
Haven't posted in a while, but thought here would be the best place to find some experts on this
So for a few months I've been struggling more than usual financially and scrutinising things a bit more. I've known for a long time that I've had Plan B PPI with Barclaycard for years. I always assumed that I asked for it so I haven't bothered claiming. Now realising more than ever I'm paying £35 a MONTH for it ( ) I want to cancel it because I don't think it'd even make a dent if the worst did happen anyway... It's more than my interest at the minute!
So before I go to ring up and ask them to cancel it - I have a little Google. Then I scour the BCard website.
So, what did I find?
...nothing.
Not one mention of "Plan B" anywhere on the Barclaycard website. From more digging I find that Barclaycard stopped offering Plan B Payment Protection (well, ANY PPI) from Aug 2010.
Now, I don't want to go barging in shouting the odds to Barclaycard - as since aside from kindly taking my money, recently they have been pretty decent and upgraded my card from Initial to Platinum and give me a 2 year 0% on balance deal to ease things a bit. However before I went ahead and asked for more info on this from them... I thought I'd ask the pros
So, the TL;DR version of above:
Took out a Barclaycard in early-mid 2007. Not sure if I opted for PPI or not.
Barclaycard stop issuing any PPI to new customers from Aug 2010 onwards.
I realise I've been paying a fortune whilst trying to squeeze things down.
Before I ask them to cancel (which I will anyway) this Plan B - do I have a case of applying for a refund? Even if - not from Day 1, but from 2010 when they stopped selling it?
The £30-odd a month I won't be paying is cracking start, but if there's any chance I'd like to explore it.
Also if anyone knows, what's the best way of getting older statements dating back a sweet ole' while from Barclaycard, would I need to request them? Similarly would they be able to find out for me if I requested Plan B back when I opened the account?
I've noticed they have a form on their site ready, and from reading the forum they don't hang around with claims either. But I'm not a greedy sausage and won't bother if I'm only really doing it 'for the sake of it' and haven't really got a leg to stand on.
Many thanks to all

You don't apply for a refund, you make a complaint about why you feel it was miss-sold (conditions only applicable at the point of sale e.g. if you had work benefits that would cover you if you were unable to work. Similarly if you lost your job or became a student or whatever after the sale that is irrelevant)
You do not need older statements, if the account is still active they should have them - you can complain without having the statements
If you are unsure if you chose this Plan B or how it was sold then don't make guesses on your complaint as it can come back to bite you if, for example, they have your application form showing you chose it or if you applied online)
So, send in your complaint if you feel it was miss-sold, list your reasons from the point of sale and see what they saySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Many thanks for that
I think my issue really was that I planned on cancelling it, then when I found out they no longer offer it or have any mention of it, have I been paying it uncessarily since they stopped it. I'll give them a call and request more information on my application first and go from there!
Thanks again!0 -
Their ceasing to sell it has no bearing on you owning it.
I owned a Ford Escort long after they stopped being made.0 -

The bank are simply no longer offering new policies.0 -
Thanks all,
Thought that would be the case.
As I said, happy enough with the £30-odd less paid a month but thought I'd ask to check.
Nice one! :money: :beer:0 -
There's nothing stopping you complaining it wasn't suitable, or you had adequate alternative cover or you didn't need it for one reaosn or another.
Make a complaint and see what happens.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Plan B's are tailored policies on bcard core cards.
you don't need to know details of this to make a complaint. go on the barclays or barclaycard website and find the online questionnaire. fill this in and submit. try to remember details about when you took out the product and where you were working + what provisions you had i.e redundancy pay/sick pay/savings etc. filling in as much as you can will help the complaint handler make a decision. if you do have a Plan b policy this will be readily available to them and they'll be able to see what questions were asked to tailor your policyex Claims management company credit controller
