Purchased upright vacuum cleaner, broke down after several weeks!!

Options
Hello All,

I had a mat who had some work carried out to his home. He borrowed my cleaner and since he returned it, it has never worked properly.

I only had the machine for a few weeks. Each time I use it, after about five minutes it shuts off, and remains off for some time.

I have emptied the cleaner, and washed out the filters, and still the problem occurs.

I contacted the helpline for advise, and they suggested to return the item back to the store for a refund or replacement.

I know they dont sell this model any more (last one reduced price).

Should i follow the advise of customer service, or try something else??
Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!

I would follow the advice given. Why wouldn't you want to?

Alternatively, you could ask your mate to fund a repair since he broke it. ;)

I did not tell customer service about the missing receipt, and they never asked

    You never told us either.
Have you perhaps got a card statement showing the purchase?

Looks like my second option may be best for you.

You need proof of purchase. That could be a receipt or a bank or credit card statement.

I'd also be aware that this might not be covered under CRA.

I know I've had vacuums in the past and they have explicity said they are not for vacuuming plaster dust or brick debris etc, so if he's had work done to his house, this may be exactly what he's used for.

I have manage to print off a statement, however, it shows more than the price of the cleaner, as i purchased other items, does that matter?

You don;t have to dismantle the cleaner to take it back. I'd still take it back, unless you've gone and damaged it now.

How much was this cleaner, it sounds a bit cheap?
