Parking Eye Charge, Aldi

Hi all
I have a case where I parked in Aldi (Gosport) and stayed 2hr10. I am genuine in saying I never noticed the signs stating maximum 1hr30 stay. I did shop in the store on this visit and I am a regular customer to this store. I have appealed to PE and given evidence of my purchase in store with bank statements. Appeal has been rejected so I'm now wondering what to do?
Any advise.

1. Do you have a POPLA code? If so you mustn't take your eye off that ball. So get on with drafting your POPLA appeal - see post #3 of the newbies FAQ sticky and the other sticky thread named 'POPLA Decisions' to start the ball rolling. Post your draft here for critique before submission. Don't rush it, but don't miss the deadline. Do a forum search on 'Aldi POPLA' to pull out other similar cases to yours.
2. Complain to Aldi HQ where they have a parking department. Be prepared to send copies of receipts for the day (were the £30 or more?) and any other receipts/bank/credit card statements which confirm that you are a regular Aldi customer.
PE are the most litigious PPC in the whole bag, but despite 3 years+ of dealing with Aldi tickets, we have yet to see one progress to court, to the point wher, at the moment, we are confident that Aldi won't allow PE to abuse their customer base beyond hassling them with NtKs (so good of them, don't you think)! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Take your custom to Lidl and tell aldi why here.

Thanks for the info, will get on with things.
My spend on the day in question was nearly £50 and I spend regular in said store.
I never even knew about the CCTV till I got the CHARGE.
I have till 1/9/16 to pay PE but would assume if I go the POPLA route (which I have a number for) I get more time.0 -

Don't worry yourself about 'paying PE', your aim (and ours) is for you not to do that. I'm absolutely amazed that there wasn't a cancellation based on £50 spend - when every case we've seen with a minimum of £30 spend has been cancelled.
Rattle that Aldi HQ cage with vigour. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

complain LOUDLY to aldi and get it cancelled0 -

I wouldn't bother with a 'phone call. Go back to the store and see a manager. Take the items you purchased, and any you still have from previous visits and just tell him/her you can't afford them on top of the parking lie invoice. Give me back my money so I can spend it in a shop that welcomes its customers instead of penalising them.

How do I start this POPLA thing?
I have evidence of shopping in store with banks statements of which these show I use ALDI on numerous occasions.
OK so i stay 40 mins over there 'free 90 mins' but the on a busy Friday evening I was not really conscious of time or to the fact there was a time restraint. I never even knew that they had CCTV on the entry/exit, maybe it states this on their signs that I have never really noticed?
I think £40 raising to £70 for 40 mins parking is quite ridiculous.
Struggling with how to proceed with things?0 -

I agree with all the others,
The 90 mins is probably imposed by parking eye to catch more people in their scam trap.
As Aldi allow this, they are saying to all customers "we only want your business for 90 mins then F,,, Off
Due to their lack of staff, the check out always has a long queue
I do not shop in Aldi as they hold customers in contempt with this parking scam.
My local Aldi is never full and that's because they use parking eye and customers are now wise to this.0 -

I just don't get the fascination with Aldi, went in one once, it was like a scruffy untidy 80's style shop of an Arthur Daly come in from the cold, hated it never been back.
People say it's cheap then spend months fighting parking scams with a company that's bolstering the gap in its bottom line with a rake off from a PPC.
Mrs. Fishy has now given up on all of them and using Ocado, wonderful products, good deals, and to date the service has been 100%.0
