Virgin Media Access Field Technician

Hi all,

Had a telephone interview with Virgin Media for the Access Field Technician job last wednesday, I feel it went okay still waiting to here back. Anyone else applied for the role recently It is listed in a few locations. all my previous experience is within the IT/Tech support field so I am fairly qualified/ experienced in some parts of the job. Just wanted to know if anyone does the job or has applied recently!

Thanks,
Jack

They are currently taking on over 250 field tech at present.

Currently people are waiting up to 3 months to get installed in some areas. So Virgin are crying out for Tech's.

The telephone Interviews are done by a recruitment company. If successful its usually a interview/assessment centre with Virgin themselves.

    Good Lick!

Lots of preparation now.
    Thanks!

Same as me mate Swansea I am assuming by your username? The interview was very relaxed the guy was nice on the phone they are mostly competency questions, same here would really love it the pay seems alright and I am tired of being stuck in an office job want to be out and about fixing things in a van haha Good luck mate! the 3 questions I had are below and a scenario. Let me know how you get on

First question - Can you tell me about a time where you have had to work under pressure and how did you handle it.

Second Question - Why did you choose this role and why Virgin Media.

Third question - Can you tell me when you have had to work with targets and meet deadlines.

scenario - You walk into a customers house you've been running late and you have caused them to miss an appointment with her friend, the house is really messy and there are kids toys everywhere how would you deal with this? I said just sympathise with them and try and get them to relate to you say you understand you have kids too (If you do..) and you know how hard it is and how sorry you are, also explain the reason you where late and dont fob them off.

Iv applied for that role before a few months ago, went though the phone interview and to go for an interview but turned it down as I bumped into a bloke that worked for them and said it wasn't a very good job, don't get alot of time to do the job, have to try and push sales ie get a better package on there TV, management is shocking

I have read this online it seems like mixed reviews? some people say they love the job and other day they dont I was thinking maybe it's the area? I am used to being under pressure and stressed so wasnt to worried about that. The sales part is a bit iffy because I wouldn't want to be pushy but to be honest I really want to work hard the next couple of years to save for a deposit so if there's any opportunities to earn extra I would work hard for it.
Did you end up going to the interview? I think I will take it as it comes and see how it goes.

A tech employed by Virgin itself doesn't have any sales in their job. The only things that a tech sells are things like New Remote Controls, Wifi Powerline Adaptors ect only if the job requires it or the customers ask for them.
  • I didnt think there would be much selling.. however I was under the impression you can sell extra packages etc. I am still waiting for an assessment date, spoke to someone yesterday who said I have definitely passed the phone interview so shall have to wait and see.. If I get offered the position I would make my decision on how the assessment day is conducted!
  • Finally had my email :j booked in for an assment day on the 20th! See how it goes anyone else booked in? There was a lot of positions advertised.
  • assessment day tomorrow anyone out there been? I think I have prepared well but always good to know what others have experienced!
