just going to pay. I really havent got the time or energy to understand all this. Everything I read just confuses me more.

You do not have to pay, why pay a scammer ?

This is what these scammers want and how they earn a living, will you really support them

I'm afraid we can only go so far in trying to help here, especially when every bit of advice is more or less rejected. We are really trying to help here @emma (sorry, don't know your real name! :)), there are a disproportionate number of forum regulars contributing to this thread, while others are stacking up without response.

I guess it's make your mind up time - but, for the last time from me, it's too early to be knee-jerking!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

yes that is fine as it only denotes what the keeper received , nothing more

I have already linked the template reply for an identical case from pepipoo, with the GAN reply covering the bases

as we said earlier, all the work is already done because so many people are facing the same deluge from BW LEGAL and VCS and Excel

its copy , paste , print , squiggle , post

Right, I do not really look at pepipoo, this forum is mind boggling enough. I hope Emma (aka unknown) takes note.
However I will now study peppipoo on the subject of BWLegal

just like this forum , PEPIPOO is awash with VCS , EXCEL and BW LEGAL threads, dozens of them on both forums , therefore its all been asked and answered , but the templates can differ depending on when the infringement happened, plus if incorrect addresses are being used

the debt is denied and FRO if you want £54 stays the same

there are at least 16 threads on page 1 alone over there

As a placeholder, for easy reference, this is the Gan letter ...
    Dear Sir

    Ref ****

Thank You for your letter dated ****

I deny any debt to Vehicle Control Services

I note that the alleged parking event was five years ago.
This pre-dates the Protection of Freedoms Act and your client has no right to pursue me as the registered keeper.

It should also not be necessary that I, as a consumer, must remind you that your £54 legal charges cannot be recovered in the Small Claims Court.
They are not my concern and I refer you to CPR 27.14.

In the event of legal action, I will invite the court to consider whether your client's delay amounts to unreasonable behaviour
My position is final. Don't contact me again unless to confirm that your client has issued proceedings. I will not reply.

    Yours Faithfully

Thanks for posting that up @DoaM.

Both forums are awash with 'do a search for a GAN letter', but doing the search brings up dozens (and more each day) of posts advising 'do a search for a GAN letter' - and it's understandable why newbies feel they're going around in circles.

I've copied it to my notes for future reference. Thank you.
