It's Weights and Measures who would investigate a complaint about inaccurate fuel pumps.
"Weights and Measures" as some kind of entity haven't existed for decades. Trading Standards are your local authority's relevant team.

There were no supermarkets in those days. You got your petrol from the petrol station in the village and you didn't have to do it yourself. The man would lift the pipe up to make sure you got every drop. You didn't need to waste your money on 4-star petrol either. Happy days. :rotfl:

And if you bought Esso, you could get one of these with your tokens...

I remember making my father buy "Esso" once instead of Cleveland Discol so I could have those bullet hole stickers they gave away when Goldfinger came out.

Discol had ethanol in it, but it didn't wreck the old P4 like E10 does now, surprising as the old Lucas petrol pump was made of alloy......
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

So don't buy E10. I've not actually seen it for sale here in the UK, but...

Same here. And before that, the little tiger tail you tied onto your filler neck.

*thinks* We don't have filler necks now either.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
  • I'm sure I paid for a tenner of air at Asda once. In the old Megane it was on red with warning light on and was still on red after with light on afterwards. Usually the light would go out and it would be off the red.

    It is coming-

You would hope that since BREXIT we can stick two fingers up at Euro targets and go back to polluting properly like in The Olden Days, when everything was better :D

However, my point was the old P4 ran merrily on Discol (which as far as I can find out could be upto 25% ethanol), yet if you put a drip of E10 in a car now it grinds to a halt

If its 'Pay at Pump' you can fill up, hang up, then take nozzle off again and open it up to drain the hose into your tank at no extra cost. Maybe the person before did that?

Alas, I thank you all for your advice.....I shall be returning myself and P4 to collect some E10 not via Cleveland for its Discol but to my local Esso, where I will happily pay the extra 1p for the extra benefit of gaining a tiger token or two.
  • This is a common and well known scam op, a second scam they use is to add a penny to the price when you replace the nozzle so you've gone over.

They do it to thousands of people. It's a good little earner
