Anyone heard of qug.exe?

I am running w98se and within the start-up options there is a program titled qug.exe.

I have looked on google but could not find anything about this.

Has anyone heard of this? Should it be on my PC? If no, how do I remove it?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

If you want any info on any process running on your PC, try downloading WhatProcess from here:

The only other reference to this I could find was on the Google Groups search, which directs you here:

    http://groups.google.co.uk/group/alt.nocem.misc/browse_thread/thread/d1a64c866a81aca/da9e11f2566f6cb2?q=qug.exe&rnum=17&hl=en#da9e11f2566f6cb2

    which contains this:

    <3aqifo.JA...@rure.org> alt.binaries.erotica.nixpix
    # xs4all.nl sjhu.xs4all.nl UKZR627WdWnjwb4dAasbiw== 81009/24 qug.exe
    014A7ADD.77669...@ugeboky.com

I'm not sure what this is a listing of, but it's pointing in the direction of spam.

Thanks to all for the input.

I agree that 2 references on google (one of which is in french!) and the fact that nobody is jumping up & down saying they have heard of it, points to the fact that it is little known and therefore probably needs removing.

I will continue my search - would just like to know what it is and how to delete it!

where is qug.exe located? Do a search on C: for it.

Is the startup entry in msconfig startup or start menu startup?

    T4i,

I am at work at the moment so I cannot search on C:, however I do know that it is on the msconfig startup as I keep unticking the box but it keeps reappearing?!

Pompey, just to go back to basics, have you run an anti-spyware scan and antivirus scan to try to get rid of this?
