Silly query about grass seed!

Sorry I couldn't seem to find a section for gardening so thought DIY was the most suitable.
Basically I know nothing about gardening but I was told to go and get grass seeds by the guy who trimmed some of my overgrown hedges and bushes and there was patches of grass that had died because they had grown so much.
Anyway went to my local hardware and gardening shop and asked them for grass seeds. They gave me Evergreen 4 in 1 complete lawn care, I'm a bit paranoid now as just seen online they have evergreen grass seeds aswell.
Is the 4 in 1 thing I have been sold just a more complete product which includes grass seed or have I got the wrong thing?

Either you did not explain yourself clearly or were give bad advice.
That product kills moss & weeds & feeds the lawn.
As Essexexile says it does not include grass seed.
You need to go to a decent garden centre for actual grass seed.
You can buy it loose in most places.
Get one will little or no ryegrass in it or you will be forever having to mow it.
Rake you bare patches until you have a bit of loose soil sprinkle on your grass seed & rake again or throw on a light covering of compost.
Make sure you keep it well watered during dry spells.
P.S. Don't use that product on your new grass when it germinates it will kill it.

Wilco's often sell it by weight.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

You want to wait a bit before seeding it - wait until autumn, you want it cool and wet. If you seed it now and we get a hot, dry few days it might kill of the new seedlings.0

This is what you were looking for. The greenfingered forum. Friendly bunch and very knowledgeable.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Just a tip my Wife saw. Plant your seed out in small pots or individual seed trays then you will get small plugs to plant out where your grass has died. Our dog is very good at killing the grass in patches but the seed plugs save having to reseed large areas.0
