It's not really that controversial, in fact it's a bit old now. Some think there's a difference, some don't... just about sums it up I reckon.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0

Yes there is a difference between some fuels. They can have different additive packages added.
Whether this makes any discernible difference to a "normal" car is highly debatable.

Except, in this case, they've messed up a little because there is NO controversy according to the thread title. The answer is, without any shadow of a doubt yes, there are very big differences:
"Is there really any difference in car fuel types?"
If you put diesel type car fuel in your petrol car, or v-v, it won't thank you.
Also, if you drop a match into a bucket of diesel type car fuel you'll probably be fine. If you do the same with petrol type car fuel you'll definitely be very un-fine.
So yes, Virginia, there is a difference.0 -
