It's not really that controversial, in fact it's a bit old now. Some think there's a difference, some don't... just about sums it up I reckon.

Yes there is a difference between some fuels. They can have different additive packages added.

Whether this makes any discernible difference to a "normal" car is highly debatable.

    In my experience it doesn't.

It's "controversial" in terms that it stirs up the same old arguments.

Mmm, a new(ish) poster starts a controversial/argumentative thread then disappears without any contribution themselves. What's that a definition of ;)

Except, in this case, they've messed up a little because there is NO controversy according to the thread title. The answer is, without any shadow of a doubt yes, there are very big differences:

If you put diesel type car fuel in your petrol car, or v-v, it won't thank you.

Also, if you drop a match into a bucket of diesel type car fuel you'll probably be fine. If you do the same with petrol type car fuel you'll definitely be very un-fine.

So yes, Virginia, there is a difference.

But which company puts the best additives in its electricity? That's what I want to know. :j
