NPE have my car registration wrong, do I still pay?

Options
Hi

I went to the website to pay the £60 and also tried the phone number but they have my car reg wrong by one letter and there doesn't appear to be any footage of any kind. Do I just pay still? They have the right car make etc but surely without the correct registration they won't have access to my address. I don't want a long appeal either. Any advice appreciated!

Why do you want to pay them?
  • I very much don't want to pay them but I've never had one before and don't want to get stung for further fines.

The notice was aggressively cellotaped to my car windscreen!

This is a scam, it is not a fine but an invoice, just as you might receive from a plumber.

Follow the advice on here and THEY could end up paying YOU for their greed.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Surely they can't write to me without the correct car registration?

correct , however the muppet WILL have taken a photo , and this is where the fun will start

very often they make simple mistakes on the ticket , car colour etc , hoping that you will ring and incriminate yourself , and saving £2.50 in DVLA fees.

they cannot get details from DVLA until day 28 after the event and must send you follow up letter before day 56

Exactomundo! Someone else is going to get a surprise in the post.

Hold on to the ticket, as if they do realise their error and eventually send you a Notice to Keeper in the post, the details of the NtK must accurately reflect those of the NtD (Notice to Driver - the windscreen ticket) - which they won't, so they will have difficulty in pursuing the keeper under PoFA 2012.

You're in good hands here - don't even consider paying, and never phone a PPC.

Come back if you receive a NtK.
