If its hot you should keep your windows closed to stop the hot air from outside getting in your home. Unless your home insulation is extremely poor keeping the windows shut keeps the house cooler.0 -
Some people have washing out every day unfortunately as my next door neighbour. Sick of seeing their underwear every day out on a washing line and I dont know why that is not considered nuisanse I dont know :rotfl:0

as a retired 30+ year fire officer ......
call the fire service in these circumstances .....
unless of course you are an expert in how dangerous the smoke / flames are
or again you could wait until some thing bad happened, and then worry as to if you should have called earlier !
the call operator will decide what response you get .......

So what!
He needed to have a bonfire so he waited until evening to avoid disturbing people. Sounds pretty considerate to me.
I also have a bonfire every month or so. I wait until a dull day so less likely people will be outside, and I check there's no washing out nearby. But bonfires do cause a lot of smoke sometimes. At least it's a nice smell! Just live with it0 -

So man who lights alot of bonfires doesn't see the problem with bonfires. Quelle suprise.
This man didn't do anything considerate, and as I stated the entire ground floor of my house was filled with smoke. I'm not living with that.0 -
Does he have lots of conifers to cut down and burn?
Is he intending to make a business of burning other people's conifers?
Or has he cut down a conifer and disposed of it?
I know it was annoying but I think 'move on' is the best advice. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
Is it still filled with smoke? Does it happen every week?
If no then it is not a nuisance and there is naff all you can do about it. Of course you could always approach the neighbour and ask him to give you a call or a knock the next time he intends to have a bonfire so that you may close your windows. He may not have known what an issue it was.0 -
I tend to burn my garden waste in the Autumn, after 7pm and I cut the wood down to fit the incinerator, it usually takes about an hour to clear the lot but am always weary to check neighbours windows are closed and no washing is out.
Saying this, it would be very rare to find washing out on a November evening.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Started stacking a pile which I will wait to put a match to later in the year - First week of November should see it dry out pretty well and reduce the amount of smoke. With everyone else around lighting bonfires at the same time, one more is hardly going to be a nuisance. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0
