Advice please. I ordered a few items online from a retailer (not sure i can state the shop name) on 5th may 2016, this order was delivered etc and thought nothing else of it but this morning (19th aug) I have recieved an email and text saying they made a mistake and didnt take the money from my account so will be doing so at the end of september. Obviously I hadnt noticed the amount hadnt been taken but does anyone know if there is an amount of time that payment should be taken. its not a small amount (£282 i think). i dont mind paying but i am abit miffed and would like to know my rights. Thoughts? thanks

You bought something. You didn't pay for it. Surely you noticed. You need to pay for it.0

You have no rights, give them the money as they made an honest mistake.0

I believe after 6 years (in England) they could not legally force you to pay (assuming you had not acknowledged the debt meantime).
However in your case they are certainly entitled to demand payment, and indeed have been good enough to inform you in advance of taking the late payment (which is more than many companies would do).0 -
It's six months for them to take it without needing authorisation from you again, some say longer but although it's rare it's still legal.0
-
Rather generous of them to give you over 5 weeks to make sure the money is in place given that you had already authorised them to take it without any warning.0

offer to split the interest you have made on the money as well

Got to love the people who can't understand that some people don't check that every single transaction they've made has gone out of their account.
Some people have more money than you and don't need to do that. Get over it.0 -
The op has probably spent the money and now thinks it unfair that they are gonna leave her with less money than she thought she had. Tuff!0

its the OP that said its a lot of money, so if its a lot of money they would have noticed not paying it0
