iPhone 4 Battery Life

Hi
I've been given an iPhone 4 free of charge.
Not a bad phone, however obviously a bit dated.
I tried it out using a 3G connection, for Internet radio (with the screen turned off.) The battery power was literally dropping every 2 minutes, and I reckon I'd be lucky to get 2.5 hours out of it (listening to radio over 3G.)
Is this normal for an iPhone 4? I was wondering maybe it would worth my while replacing the battery?
Thanks.

I'd be amazed if you got 2.5 hours listening to radio on 3g. The battery was not great when new and the phone must be 4 years old. It might be worth going to a repair shop and asking how much for a new battery.0

We have an old iphone 4 and the battery is the same as yours. Lasts a few hours if you're lucky.
My wife has a Iphone 5 and that has gone the same way after the last IOs upgrade 9.7.4 ? i think?
The battery life is very erratic. Charges in 1/2 hour then discharges almost as quick....bizarre really.
Cynically i think Apple doesn't want people using these old handsets and wants people to upgrade....but again the batteries are 3 to 4 years old.....0 -
Lithium batteries used in phones and laptops are only rated for 300~500 charge/discharge cycles. Given that many mobile phones are charged daily, it's no surprise the batteries are weak after 2 or more years.0
