iPhone 6s Plus

Hi

After many an hour dealing with Vodafone retentions, I managed to get a iPhone 6S Plus 16gb Space Grey for £31.20 a month(from £52 so they say), no upfront cost, 3gb data. unlimited minutes and texts.

I did previously vow I'd never stay with this Network, but after scouring the Net, they all seem to be as bad as each other these days looking at the reviews.

I also know the iPhone 7 will be out soon, but on contract it will cost a small fortune, plus I cannot justify the massive upfront cost with a contract to pay on top. Probably looking at £1100 all in over 2yrs.

So how did I do?

don't count your chickens until they actually get the billing right , that's their biggest problem for the last year ...

Well if they mess up, I will just have another 4 weeks of pain returning the Handset and getting the price plan reverted.

Not bad. I managed to get Iphone SE 64gb for £20 pm, £20 upfront cost. UL min/Text and 2 gb data from EE

That's good considering the handset is £459.

I did look at brand new contracts to escape the clutches of Vodafone, but the cheapest with a free handset came in at £36 and to say that offered u/l mins and texts, but only 1gb data, which is peanuts these days.

I know. It was an upgrade and I just stayed firm that it had to be 64gb. At the time there was a deal on mobiles.co.uk which was £25 a month and £20 up front so they said they would at least match that but they then bettered.

I am very happy with the service I've had from EE. On previous contract they allowed me 12 months in to upgrade data to 2gb for just £1 a month extra.

One thing I wish UK mobile companies would do is a minimum cost over the term of your contract like they do in Australia.

That way you could shop around for a contract knowing you are getting the best affordable deal if you don't opt for Sim Only and buying the handset separately.

It's also worth pointing out the £31.20 will increase in 2017/18 as Vodafone use RPI to increase airtime costs now.

Ah right, but I thought RPI was in place with most Mobile providers? It seemed so with a now expired Orange contract I had, and same for my Dad's now cancelled o2 contract.

Vodafone started using RPI back in May.

Only Tesco Mobile and Three (on their SIMO plans) are the ones left who don't now.

And here once again before the Handset arrives, there are already 2 causes for concern with Vodafone.

    1) I requested a Silver 6s Plus, they are shipping a Space Grey 6s Plus. I fancied Silver and White (front fascia), not Grey and Black (front fascia) - Charlene this morning on 191 told me, unpackage the Space Grey device, see what I think of it over 30 days, if I don't like it, they will do an exchange on the doorstep next week.

    2) Myvodafone App is currently reporting a £73.85 bill with around £21.90 on additional costs, live chat told me to disregard this as I am in credit, and the bill will readjust itself come September when my next bill is produced.
I was promised I would not pay £73.85 and to keep a log of the chat by Vicky. Hmmm do I believe this?!

I have numerous chat logs by various reps I would be paying no more than £31.20 a month.
