Flight Delay Query

I have recently returned from lanzarote - our flight home was delayed and we departed 3 hrs 15 mins late, however due to a tail wind we made up some time and landed 2 hrs 45 mins late. Can I claim as it was over 3 hrs late upon departure or is it based on arrival time? Thanks.

Arrival time BUT when doors open, not landing time.
