I do not switch current accounts and have no intention of doing so. I have had my current account for well over 30 years and am quite satisfied with it.0

I don't think anyone would recommend switching your existing accounts that you have had for a long time. Just open new accounts and switch them to get the switching bonues and interests.
Yes I've done just that, I've switched an old Nationwide account to Halifax so got the bonus, have a Barclays account I can use for another of the bonuses.0 -
I've had my Abbey a/c. or Santander as it is now since before i started work, and i'm 63 now. I can't be bothered switching but then there's not that much in there.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

It seems that you don't read threads either before you post on them. It has been said many times already that nobody on here would tell you to switch your main current account.
The idea is that you open another account and switch that to get the bonuses!0 -

But why wouldn't you open a second account and switch that to get a few hundred pounds in bonuses!.
If you don't have much money then it sounds like your the kind of person who would most benefit from it!0 -
I'd rather not play the system. I have various accounts with the Halifax, and they have always given me good service. They can look at my account history, listen to what I'm saying, and apply common sense. How often does the latter happen nowadays!? I'm going to stick with that... worth more than a couple of hundred pounds to me.0

We all have different priorities and motivations. Why does that bother you so much?0

But why would that be any different if you opened a second account and switched that to another bank to get a bonus?. It wouldn't change your banking history with Halifax in any way at all and you could continue to use them as your main account.0 -

I think the most worrying thing that this thread has shown is that a lot of people seem to think they have to switch their main bank account to take advantage of these bonuses and extra interest (even posters who seem to be regulars on this forum).
Obviously as this is a money saving site most people want to help others use their money in the most efficient way possible.
So i think everyone should be clued up on the benefits of switching banks and how easy it is to get "free" money and "high" interest rates.0 -
