I'd be fairly confident that an obsolete driver is going to be your issue. Try looking here to see if you can find an update.

Thanks. I had tried that, but although most of the Laptop's drivers were listed - albeit only for Vista and XP - there wasn't a keyboard driver. There are several other search options on the website - but no success.

I have emailed Medion for advice who say they will respond within 3 days.

Thank you for contacting Medion UK support. I apologise for the delay replying to your e-mail.

Unfortunately for your device there are no Windows 10 drivers available for this 2008 model . I am sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you.

If you require any further assistance then please do contact us.

So MS check that the laptop is compatible with WIN 10 and we now have a machine useless as a laptop!

Why not go back to Windows 7? I also recommend that you increase the RAM to 4GB and install a 64 bit OS.
    What's the model number?

I agree that it sounds like a keyboard driver issue. However, it could also be the case that you need to install the chipset drivers. Medion don't have Win10 chipset drivers, they do have Windows Vista drivers though, so I would give that a try. You can download them here.

According to their site, the MSN number that you provided resolves to a MEDION AKOYA MD 96640 A-UK

It came supplied with Vista. How did you upgrade to Windows 7?

I would see if there are Windows 7 drivers available for the keyboard. I had some success on an HP PC with using these when Windows Update couldn't find four specific drivers for Windows Server 2008 R2!

If it doesn't work, you can just roll-back.
