How about a urinal so those crazy broads know you're not expecting them to consider using it??0

You're a disgrace to MSE!
Add your urine to the compost heap and save the water cost of the flush.0 -
Fecal matter as an aerosol does spread everywhere through the houseIt would be awful to put food on the surfaces, especially as most of our veg is grown in a mixture of poo, dead animals/plants and rock, wouldn't want to put anything dirty on it.
Unless you sterilise your hands they contain fecal matter all of the time.
I agree with you but some people are very squeamish about a toilet in a utility room because of the clean clothes and 'clean' food idea.
I'm sure there was thread before on MSE about how this arrangement was affecting the sale of a house because so many people found it off-putting.0 -

I carp in the same room i brush my teeth, same room as i clean myself and the same room that i put clean clothes to put on in.
@ Op, its a toilet in your house. Apart from the OH why are you listening to other womens who will rarely ever use it and will also have the choice of a selection of toilets? Its your house, for you, not for your friends/relatives toileting pleasure.0 -
What do the building regulations say?0

We have a utility / wc.
There's no freezer or sink, but I wouldn't be worried to have that arrangement if the room is big enough so that they're not right next to the toilet.
That's my 2p.0 -
Don't forget one of these. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0

Hygiene, ventilation ... These are health and safety and as such they are covered by building regulations. You need to read them.0

My objections to the idea are entirely cosmetic - I wouldn't like to see the loo whilst going to the freezer or doing the washing. If the layout can permit it, I'd like the loo itself to be behind some sort of panel, maybe even just obscure glass. Not really a cubicle, just an illusion of one.
I really don't understand why anyone would want a basin as well as a sink. ...0 -
We converted the downstairs bathroom into a utility room and kept the loo (bathroom now upstairs). The rules are to close the lid before flushing the loo to contain the aerosol effect. Generally speaking it's not the poo loo either!
No basin but the kitchen sink is but a few feet away. Oh, the door does close but no lock as (again, generally) it's only the male guests who tend to use it, and me! OH is away so much just now that it's normally just me in the house. My 'foo foo' :rotfl: is never on general display!0
