Hi there
I need to replace some very old storage heaters and would like to hear if you can recommend any particular brand. I need 2 for my lounge area which measures about 5.5 metres x 4.5 metres and is 2 metres high and one for a bedroom which is 5.5 metres x 2.5 and 2 metres high. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Dimplex is the only name that comes to mind.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

^^^ I second that. I replaced my old brown ones some years ago with "modern" cream ones with a thermostat to cut the input depending upon the overnight temperature - not sure it worked any better than heaters without - but the insulation was better and they certainly looked better.0

Perhaps so few people these days install storage radiators that finding opinion based on experience might be difficult.0

The house we live in has sunhouse manual storage heaters, about 10 years old, they are ok ish and we are thinking about changing them, the people who had the property were tight and fitted undersized heaters in every room.
Storage heaters suit us as we have no gas and as we are in during the day we benefit from the heaters, I have considered oil but all comparison sites assume heat only when you need it, not all day, I suspect the runnung costs would be similar.
I fitted an elnur automatic heater in the dining room as the heater in there was carp, what a difference with a correctly sized heater and the automatic feature seems to work well, may change 2 more this year and Id pick elnur again, wouldnt use sunhouse but that may be unfair.
We had creda automatics at our first house and they were good but thats 25 years ago, certainly better than the sunhouse but from memory they were expensive.0 -
Look at Dimplex Quantum. They're supposed to get over some of the earlier problems with storage heating.0

Many thanks for all the suggestions. I'll go through them and see where it takes me. I have to have them as I have the wiring in place and no gas. It's just a question of updating them.0

looks like creda stuff is still available.0 -
Creda is a Glen Dimplex group brand (along with Nobo) and is basically the same as the equivalent Dimplex model, but a bit cheaper.
