Faulty TV

DIgihome 40" LED TV set, about 2 years old, has suddenly developed a fault. TV starts ok but after a minute or two the screen goes blank.
Switch off and on again and the screen is working again. And then goes blank again.
Also a couple of instances where the left hand side of the screen has been noticeably darker than it should be.
Out of warranty. Am hoping to try the Sale of Goods Act angle with the retailer but might not get anywhere.
Anyone know if this is a common fault on tellies like that & something that can be fixed? The telly was only £200 so it's not something I'd spend much money on if it's anything other than an easy fix. Suspect I'll just end up selling for spares and buying a new set.
Thanks
Alan.

I don't know of an issue but Google the TV make and the fault and see if any others have reported the same issue.
Try the route you mention but bear in mind it cost £200 about 2 years ago so it might be a lifespan for a set for that price.0 -
In the 'early days' we had a Digihome Freeview recorder and that died after two years.
It's probably better to pay more for a reputable brand and so get a longer warranty.0 -
Digihome stuff is rebranded something else. They appear to be made so the likes of Argos can sell them as "Argos Value" or something generic and the seller will handle issues direct rather than getting in touch direct with Digihome, which is itself not an actual company but a brand.
The parent company appears to be Vestel, a Turkish company that makes them, and apparently a lot of "top end" stuff appears to be rebranded Vestel stuff.0
