Ryan Air Travel Credit

Long story short...
February 14 this year I fell and broke my humerous bone in a horrendous spiral fracture.
I was hospitalised for 17 days due to uncontrollable pain.
I had a flight booked for 24 Feb with RyanAir and was given a Travel Credit.
Unfortunately, I am just out of my cast, 6 months on!, and still unable to fly.
My consultant gave me a letter stating this and I forwarded it to RyanAir asking for an extension to the 6 month travel credit.
I have had 3 replies from them - all saying 'no'.
As this runs out on 21st August, I will have to book a flight that I don't know if I can use.
Their T & C's do say non- refundable etc, but this is an unique situation.
I do not want a refund, I will use it.
Any advise please.

A horrid and painful injury I am sure but this voucher was a gesture from Ryanair. There was no obligation for them to issue this travel credit when you could not take your original flight - it was a token of goodwill which understandably comes with time limitations on its use.

Suitable travel insurance would likely have covered you after your injury and not being allowed to fly. I assume that you did not have this which is why you managed to secure the voucher from Ryanair.

The angry face in your title bar is not deserved by the airline. They have done more than they needed to to accommodate your position.
  • You should be grateful that Ryanair went over and beyond in the first place. Ryanair had no need to issue you with a credit, let alone extend it. Not being able to travel because you had an accident is not a unique situation by any means. You should have claimed off your travel insurance in the first place.
