That was my original plan, to get free hire car from Thomas Cook and buy my own insurance. But then I read the fine print at TC and noticed that I would have to pay all local charges like State Environment surcharge, Airport handling fee, State taxes etc.
Plus extra driver is $10 per day :-( I just can't work out how much extra it would be as it says this might be $49 or $68, tax is fixed at $2.05 per day..
    I'm confused..

If it makes a difference, Daily or Annual Car Hire Insurance(inc. CDW & SLI) is cheaper here Not forgetting Quidco.

    Update from sunny Phoenix.
The carhiremarket part of the booking worked flawlessly.
Unfortunately, the customer service assistant at Alamo thought that it was still the 1990's and gave me lies, BS and waffle for 20 minutes before eventually giving me the car that I'd booked and paid for.
So I'm beating up the roads of Arizona in a brand new Tahoe.
  • I would love to be in Arizona right now!

Sedona, Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, even a drive to Winslow to see the Jackson Browne statue standing on a corner. Antelope Canyon!

    Yeah, I'm jealous.

It's just hit 79 on the thermometer.
Ice hockey tonight, Boneyard in Tucson tomorrow. Children currently flobbing about in the pool. It's a surreal Christmas and New Year time.
