24 hours to pay or unsecured vehicle will be removed

Afternoon everyone.
I have just had two bailiffs turn up at my house. They rolled up the driveway and handed me a notification of enforcement agent visit. This is in regards to two penalty charges for a council issued parking tickets.
The notice says that my goods are now bound. The vehicle is unsecured (as in it is just sitting on the driveway). They told me if the fine (£579.00, including £235.00 for todays visit) is not paid within 24 hours, they will return to remove the vehicle.
I did not dispute the fine originally due to a series of serious personal issues. I actually intend on paying the fine but would rather do this with money (of which I wont have for at least another 2 weeks) than have my vehicle removed.
Could anyone give me any advice on how to proceed? It doesnt seem right that they can just pull up and bound items simply because I do not have a locked gate or garage. I have not been given an itinerary. They have not touched the vehicle or mentioned that it is seized.
Please don't give me the third degree on not sorting it out sooner. I had a suspected heart attack last night so I don't need the added stress of having to defend myself on a forum while looking for assistance.
Appreciate the help. If you need any more information, please ask.

Hi, this forum does not deal with council enforcement, we are for private parking tickets on private land
Best place for this is http://www.pepipoo.com/forums/0 -

Ah right, thanks for the information0 -
But in the meantime find somewhere to move your car to, preferably a garage or somewhere it is unlikely to be spotted from the road.0

You will be best served in dealing with bailiffs by making contact with 'Bailiff Advice Online'. Sheila, who provides this excellent service, has an extremely good reputation for assisting people with bailiff issues.
Calls and the email enquiry service are free.

HTHPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Wouldn't that be frowned upon by the courts? The vehicle has already been noted, so moving it (to hide it) from bailiffs might lead the OP into even more trouble.
The bailiffs didn't turn up unannounced ... OP should have received a letter saying when the bailiffs were coming. The time to move the car elsewhere was before they came, not after.0 -
Possession is 9/10 of the law. They have not followed the correct procedures for seizing a vehicle. Hide it, preferably on someone else's private property so even if they find it they will need to get a court warrant to enter and seize it (but don't leave it at your workplace).
It's all about delaying them until you've got the funds to pay. And don't leave any doors or windows open otherwise they'll be in your house next (you are not obliged to let them in but they can let themselves in if they can do so without breaking and entering)0 -
Thanks everyone. I'm not too fussed about peeing them off, what I worry more about is the fees going up and up. I only have to delay it for two weeks. Looking for someone to borrow the money from.
Does anyone know where I stand if a bailiff gains access to a porch? I have an unsecured porch and a second door which is locked. If they gain access to the porch, does that then give them right to force entry to the rest of the house?0 -
As well as posing on Pepipoo, take note of the Bailiffadvice online link above, which has a lot of very helpful info even if you don't sign-up and you may also find it useful to have a shuftyin the Debt or Bankruptcy Forums here, where you may find more info on the bailiffs you are dealing with.
My understanding is that if they get any kind of access to the interior of your property, even by slipping something under a door or through the edge of a window frame, then they can proceed on the assumption that a warrant is served - so inside a porch would apply.
Good luck - and get a lock on that porch!0 -
They are going to add something like £235 for every visit, so I'd try and get it paid now even if you need a bank loan / overdraft.
I'd also move the car somewhere safe and not obvious (they know what it is so will have a look round).
They haven't siezed it yet so you can do what you like with it (much cheaper for you to sell it to WBAC and pay them than have them sieze and auction it). The risk is that they'll keep visiting and racking up the bill if it's not cleared.0 -
the best advice is still that of contacting sheila (herbie) at bailiff advice line, who specialises in all the "what ifs"0
