I would like to listen to BBC Radio London in the Portsmouth area. Apart from internet radio, is there a way to do this?
As far as I can see the answer is no, but just checking there's not some hack I'm not aware of. I've got Freeview and a DAB radio.

The internet is the only way I can think of, also.
Why not buy a £50 or so cheap Android phone.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Seems like the iplayer is your only option , unless you have freeSAT or Virginmedia0

You could pick up an old Sky box and get Radio London on channel 0152 or on channel 718 on Freesat.0

That's interesting as I do have an old Sky box, however had assumed local channels were only available in the local area as they are with DAB and Freeview.
Only problem for practical purposes is I have no satellite dish in Portsmouth :huh:0 -

All channels broadcast cover the whole country but your post code location would normally select your local regional channels automatically.
You should be able to pick up a cheap dish for next to nothing e.g. freecycle, gumtree, skip, local ads. etc.
BBC local radio has recently been added to freeview see here but Radio London is not included as far as I can see.0 -
With a bit of working out, you ought to be able to stream it over the internet yourself using VLC. I haven't done this myself, but it should work:

Essentially you tune in at home, plug the audio into your PC's Line In, and tell VLC to stream it. Wherever you are, you can then tune in to your broadcast over the internet.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -

Yes, but the OP has deliberately excluded internet radio as a listening method, so presumably they are looking for something that doesn't involve the internet.0 -

Many thanks - that's essentially what I'm doing at the moment, only I use mplayer rather than VLC. It all works, it's just logistically a bit awkward, and I'd rather get it through a TV box if I can.
From the posts so far, it looks like there are a few possibilities, so thanks to everyone for the ideas.0 -

For some reason my brain decided it must be down to the station not broadcasting over the internet. Reading it again, I can't think of any reason that would be a sensible conclusion to draw :rotfl:
If you have unlimited minutes, just call a friend and ask them to leave their phone beside the radio

If you're outside of London, BBC Radio London won't show on your sky box. Apparently you can manually tune it using the following details:
Frequency: 11.954
Polarisation: H
Symbol Rate: 27.5
FEC: 2/3
That was from an old website, this might be more up to date:

Or.. Buy a chromecast/amazon fire stick and stream it over the net to your TV? The Internet is the only solution if you can't
I've just checked on my Fire Stick - The TuneIn app has BBC Radio London.0
