O/S Daily Tuesday 16 August 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, very light cloud, sun trying to peek through, feels warm already, another warm day forecast.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta with a breaded chicken portion for the menfolk. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas.

Work yesterday was a bit of a manic Monday - slow to start off with then all or nothing, but mostly manic, we'll have to see how today goes.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning all, hoping that everyone will have a good day. I am going back to work today, a little worried about the air con and dry air but should be ok.
Washing done overnight, ready for OH to wriggle out of the window and hang it on the line.
I must do the busy beetle thing.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Hugs to Lainey and Csarina, glad you are feeling better AOD.

The dogs have had their morning constitutional, the fish have been fed and hubby has a cuppa in bed.

I have a supermarket delivery today between 4 & 5, hubby is carrying on with doing all the outstanding jobs around the house, I think he is regretting leaving them all for so long now.

I'm nearly at the end of my cat sitting and gardening watering duties, but I an dog sitting again in a couple of weeks.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Thanks for starting us all off nmlc.

It's a glorious morning here. The tide is out so an early morning beach walk is inviting me.

After I posted yesterday afternoon I felt a little guilty about having not done too much so I went out into the garden and raked a walkway of all the moss which has covered it. It now needs either bark or gravel put down. No job exists in isolation.

Most of the leftover quiche is gone at last, one more lunch to go. I have to visit the agricultural store this morning as I'm right out of bird feed. I've been using up black sunflower seeds but also need sunflower hearts and peanuts and the store has 15kg bags. Probably I can get it cheaper online but then it's a £5.00 carrier charge so not so cheap.

Dumpling - how was your session yesterday?

Lainey and csarina - thinking about your mum and OH and hope you both are taking care of yourselves too.

This time last year I was in sunny Australia for my youngest nephew's surprise birthday, the year has flown by so bloomin' quickly it's scary.

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday. Make the most of it camelot!

Morning everyone, thanks for starting us off nmlc X

Hester - hope your houseguest is behaving. Could he help DH with the jobs to 'earn his keep'?

Hugs to csarina and Lainey and hope AOD has a good first day back.

DS1 had an extra shift at the cafe yesterday and the builders want him back for labouring duties today. He is just stirring.

My meeting at the church didn't go so well. Didn't get to sit down until 10.20 (meeting was at 10) and then had all manner of folk wandering into the (small) office wanting stationery and to use bits and bobs. Kinda hard to discuss hours and increased stipend when you're constantly being disturbed. I think I had about 20mins in total of the ministers time. Not sure anything will change.

DH has third/final interview tomorrow with a consulting firm. If he gets offered we know his salary will be around 30-40% less than he was earning, so I will need to make up some of the difference. He will be back to earning what he did 10 years ago and in that time we have remortgaged, so have additional demands on our money. But any job is better than the £73 a week JSA so here's hoping for a positive result.

Today I'm at the charity and our chair of council is visiting us. I have forgone my gym session this morning in order to look vaguely human and not a red faced mess. Dress shopping with DD later for DBIL's wedding on Saturday, she was going to wear one of mine but DH doesn't like it. Men!

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone,

Bright and sunny here, just back from walking the girls, OH still asleep.

I was productive yesterday and channelled all the stress into housework so everything is clean and shiny now. Two loads of washing to get done today and that's about it.

Mum has a hair appointment at 10am and then I will go and pick her up. Lots of phone calls yesterday from hospital about having the biopsy, because she is on warfarin and high risk she will need to stop that five days before and have injections instead. One of the ladies in the phone asked me if I could do those, have never done such a thing and whilst could probably manage in an emergency would rather not!
Think it's all a bit much for Mum at the moment and when I last spoke to her she was thinking about changing her mind about the biopsy. Could only suggest she slept on it and see how she felt today. I did ask if they could push ahead with getting the Macmillan nurses on board as believe it would help Mum to talk to someone like that, someone outside of the family that perhaps she could rant & rave at etc, she is so worried about upsetting us any more than necessary.

Sorry to womble on, my mind is just racing all the time and it helps to write things down.

    Hugs to Csarina and Dumpling.
Glad you are feeling better AOD

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Lainey - I think the McMillan nurses idea will help your mum a great deal. So sorry you have this to deal with. Sending hugs xx

Thinking of you Lainey and csarina. Hope you're ok hilstep.

Washing on the line, DW emptied and packed lunches made - DD and I are off to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute this morning, she has a day off and this is the last day of my holidays. Thanks Gers, I will make the most of every minute!

Went to neighbours for tea and cake yesterday afternoon then a friend of the children's called round (the one I helped move) with a beautiful bunch of flowers and asked if I wanted to go for a coffee. We took the bikes into Balloch and had a cold drink outside, it was such a lovely evening.

Going to take some salmon out of the freezer for tea and then get my stuff ready for tomorrow, 2 in-service days before the children start back on Friday.

Have a good day. Take care. XX

    Good morning everyone

It's another beautiful sunny morning here today. I'm up early as hubby has gone for a blood test at the doctors. The girls are all fast asleep and the dog is being tormented by the cat.

My session was actually ok yesterday, I learnt lots of techniques to distract and relax to get me through the wedding. My CMHT lady is also going to take me to the venue on Thursday so I can look around and hopefully put some of my anxieties to rest.

DD13 is cooking tea tonight. She is going to make a salmon and prawn pasta dish which I am sure will be lovely. DD15's pie she made yesterday was very nice too. I still have loads of washing to do so that will be my number one chore today.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all,

Still off work with upset tummy I think its on the way out as only a couple of episodes in the night will hopefully go back tomorrow, OH and DD seem to now have it, better this week than next when we are away !

Lovely Roger is coming to mow the lawn today so I need to go out and pick up the dogs toys and see if she has left any 'parcels' for me she is normally very good and waits till we are out walking but there is sometimes the odd one !

Dinner tonight is meatballs is anyone fancies eating. I have a wash on the go and will hang it out, things can start to go in the case now, OH could not find our life jackets in the loft but I think he has looked like a man looks !! so I will have to try and haul myself up there today.

Lainey big hugs to you and your mum xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one. It looks like being another hot day, towels are in the washer.

Not going in to see OH today, step son going this evening, I need to get on with some jobs around the house and also wash down the front door and put some netting over the garden where the cats are s.....g. I also need to have a rake round the garden for beans, French and climbing, courgettes and if I can dig up some more spuds.
