i've done gerona a few times with my mum, usually get a cheap hire car and head down to pineda, have lunch and a wander, grab cigs etc and head back to Stansted. Nice day out for me, saves her a few £100!

A number of people have attempted trips to Poland to take advantage of the cheap tobacco there, but it gets confiscated when they come back to the UK, or they pay so much in duty that there is no point.
And quite a few have done so and not been caught..... Seems to depend which airport you use and how lucky you are. They are also cheap in Prague, about £15 for 200. I know people who (Allegedly!) do it as the savings more than pay for the trip, and have not been stopped... yet!

Greece is the cheapest legal one - around £21-22 for most English brands, but you're looking at 4 hours each way. Haven't tried the day-trip thing myself (normally wrap a couple of weeks round it), but a few people I know have done long weekends in Benidorm - you can get some freebies with the ciggies there.
  • I regularly do long weekends to Spain so get most of my cigs that way but I also have relatives in Belgium sodo the occasional weekend with them aswell. You could get the ferry to Calais and then either drive or get a bus to Adinkerke for cigarettes and tobacco. B&H are about £29 which isn't as cheap as Spain but still much cheaper than UK. This company run a free bus from Calais to Adinkerke if you want to travel as a foot passenger

One other tip it works out cheaper to by in sterling rather than by credit card or euros!
