Glad you spotted it, if this is the first time this has happened, pop into a local branch and ask if you can get the reward payment given to you as you didnt realise you went over into your OD<

They should give you the rewards as a one off and continue in further months to come.

Is that something that's easily/often done?...in your branch experience?

Had a bit of a panic myself this month when I nearly dipped into my Halifax Reward O/D facility due to forgetting I'd written a cheque (damn those ID systems for regular savers!). Luckily I remembered the night before the cheque hit my account.

Yes, if its a one off, misunderstanding of the T&C's or a unexpected payment has caused to use OD, or a DD cancelled by mistake, so not paid out 2 DD.

a goodwill payment with a note placed explaining what was said so customer knows how the gain the reward the following months.

Would say probably five or six a week, especially new customers that have switched for the reward but missing the DD requirement in the first month.

Of course it depends on your branch, but we do this as part of a customer service practice...

    Tumbleweed...........
  • One of my DDs on my Halifax account is BT,for years they have taken the monthly bill. All of a sudden in July they didn't, no notification at all,I only realised when I checked my account a few days later.
Did the live chat thing with BT and they said "making the system more secure have to set up DD again"....and they could not set it up to take the July Bill only from August onwards..
Upshot is I lost the £5 for July because BT had decided not to take the DD.

The cheek of it compounded when they charged me £7.50 for late payment of Bill !! Off to live chat gain, got that 're-credited..
