Oh I have ft3
That's cubic feet suzy35 so an imperial meter (4 dials excluding any digits in red).Don't know how it's been read?not on gas bill
Don't know who you're with at the moment but, with us, this is shown on our bills under Gas Readings and units used. For example, 4222 ft3
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

OK, you have looked at your meter and it is marked ft3, this denotes it as an Imperial meter.
To check the billing look a Gas Bill and divide the number of KWh charged by the number of meter units used - The answer should be close to 31.5
If the answer is around 11.2 you are being seriously UNDERCHARGED0 -
Thanks it worked out at 63.6? So it was kWh,180 and gas used 2.83 ,very confusing0

Think I did that wrong lol0

Morning suzy35.
Thought it might help if I explain how we convert gas units into kWh. As you've a 4 dial imperial gas meter, we'll do the following.
Take the number of gas units used and multiply by 2.83 to convert in to cubic metres.
Multiply this figure by a conversion factor of 1.02264. This takes account of differences in temperature and pressure and is the same for all suppliers.
Multiply this figure by the calorific value (broadly, this is a measure of the quality of the gas). This can vary and is set by the National Grid. It'll be on each bill.
Finally, we divide the total by 3.6 to give the usage in kWh.
We put this calculation on our bills and there's more information on our website too. Totally understand this is a bit long winded so, as a rough guide and for imperial meters like yours, you can multiply the number of units by 31.5. This will give an approximate number of kWh.
The calculation is a little different for 5 dial metric meters.
Hope this is of use suzy35. Let me know if still unclear as happy to help.

Thank you for that so this is what I done,,,gas units used 180x2.83x39.3x1.02264 divided by
Thankyou this is what I done..;gas units used180 x3.83 x39.3 x102264 divided by3.6 is that right and I got 56860 -

Spot on Suzy. For 180 units on a 4 dial imperial gas meter and a calorific value of 39.3, I make it 5686 kWh too.

Is this correct for Metric?
Converting to KWHT
How to convert into ga units into kilowatt hours (kWh): 324.00 metric units used x 1.022640 volume correction = 331.33 corrected units x 39.2 calorific value ÷ 3.6 to convert to kWh = 3,607.81 kWh.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Spot on di3004. For metric (5/6 dial) meters, you don't need to convert into cubic metres as above (post 27). I make it 3607.8 kWh too.
