In the bread bin. The fridge acts by drawing off warm, moist air, so will make bread go stale more quickly, IME.
And I was told at a party recently, by a chap who researches into salmonella, that eggs should be kept in the fridge. I like to live on the edge, and mine are in the kitchen in a wire chicken.

I do as Ampersand: make my own (wholemeal) with seeds and keep it for a couple of days in the fridge. It keeps well. After, I slice it and freeze it. Whenever I have bought a similar bread, that is the advice I've been given too.
How you keep your bread will depend on how you like it: If you like it sliced and toasted, then definitely freeze without a second thought. If it is for sandwiches, we sometimes make them with frozen rolls or slices --it helps keeping the perishable filling safe and by the time you eat them it has defrosted.
We also freeze ciabattas and the like, then defrost them in a hot oven.
Rolls, we just keep well wrapped for a couple of days, then freeze if not consumed and give the same treatment. A short spell in a hot oven works wonders for any bread!
As for commercial sliced bread, I have noticed it tends to mould very easily. Even if you do not like it toasted, I would advice to keep it in the fridge of freezer and then defrost or warm up the slices in the toaster (or the defrost function of a microwave which will keep it moist).0 -

I keep them in a cool place in their carton. I have heard eggs inside the fridge can contaminate other foods with salmonella.0 -

I keep my veg in the fridge but most of the fruit in a basket except bananas which I hang up......., I have also kept spuds in the fridge, but never eggs.....they are kept in their box on the work surface........none of us have ever suffered from any form of food poisoning, salmonella or any other type.....Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

I freeze sliced bread. When we want some we take out what we want at the time. (It takes no time to thaw out) We have a bread bin but rarely use it! I also make sandwiches for a packed lunch. Freeze small portions of meat, or whatever, enough for one sandwich (or how many you have). Take out of the freezer the filling the night before, but make up the sandwich using frozen bread. I find it makes the sandwich easier to butter, cut, and spreads etc don't make the bread soggy so much. Result, by the time you eat it everything is thawed, and you have a wonderful sandwich and never have mouldy bread!0
