really really hope someone can help,
i sold a caravan a couple of days ago, it has just recently been serviced and i got a new water ingress report completed the day they collected, this was at their requested and also because i wanted them to be happy with what they were getting and i wanted to make sure there were no come backs.
before they came to look at it we talked over a price and stated an amount but when they came they said they didnt have that money now so we knocked off £500 for them, in part because id had a bad experience with the caravan and just wanted it gone.
the day they came to collect it i printed out a receipt which stated
This is to certify that the above caravan is sold as seen on the above date.
The agreed price of £xxxx ,
£xxxx cash deposit on the 7th August 2016
£xxxx bank transfer on the 12th August 2016
This caravan has just been recently serviced and to the best of our knowledge this caravan has no known issues or defects.
both me and the lady signed a copy of this.
now here in lays the issue the caravan has a motor mover, we have not really used it as we had no need and dont really understand them. my husband showed the caravan move up and down the drive with it the day they agreed the sale.
when they came to collect they connected it to the car and away they went.
the following day they contacted us to ask if we knew any one who knew anything about motor movers as one side wasnt working. we said no sorry etc
today they have messaged to say they have looked at it and cant sort is so want to buy a new mover at the cost of £800 which they want half from us or they want a full refund.
where do i stand? please can some one help me
thanks in advance if anyone can help

Are you a retailer of caravans?
If not, the buyer has no Consumer Rights as it's a private sale. Caveat Emptor!
(they may still have some legal rights though, but don't worry about them unless you receive some legal papers attempting to assert them)0 -
Private sale, they inspected the caravan before buying, we're given a demonstration of the motor mover in operation and we're happy to pay the agreed price. Is it possible they are just not using the motor mover properly?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
Sold as seen, they were happy with it at the time. No need to have any further contact with them.0
-
If it's a private sale then the time for them to check the mover was before buying it not after. Unless you claimed the mover was working the have no rights.
The hardest part is telling them that, are you strong enough to tell them sold as seen?0 -

You stand fully protected by law if you got a receipt signed by the purchaser and it was a private sale.
Don't worry and move on. If you really feel the need to reply just firmly but politely say "You had full opportunity to inspect and test the caravan, which was sold as seen, so I'm afraid I can be of no further assistance. I hope you have many happy years of holidaying as we did".0 -
They can put the £500 you knocked off the price towards the cost of a new motor mover. Avoid getting involved in a never-ending SMS / Email exchange with the buyers over this issue - reply once denying any liability, but ignore any further communication from them. If they turn threatening or abusive, either via SMS / Email, or in person, you will need to report them to the police."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Do you have all the money agreed as the sale price ie has the bank transfer already been credited to your account? If so then you hold all the cards (as already mentioned). if the balance has not been paid yet then it is more complicated as, whilst you would be legally entitled to the money, enforcing those rights with an intransigent purchaser may be difficult.0

Probably as you so easily knocked £500 off, they thought there was more to had.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0

thank you so much everyone
was thinking the same but really wanted some reassurance as didn't want to do the wrong thing
if i hear any more ill be sure to post
