Parking Eye WelcomeBreak (timing issues?)

  • Thanks again! So the object is to keep them in the loop via email, even though they only ever send auto-replies? That's fine, it just seems curious that they will treat it as not being silent when it never seems as if a person actually reads any of the emails sent to them! In other words, it has certainly been like talking to a brick wall.

At this point am also still emailing the WB manager, who hasn't replied, as the potential best course of immediate action - keeping hopeful on that front! [:-)]

Hoping that the resident expert Coupon-Mad might have an answer here...
    Question:
What if the un-named driver is a holder of a foreign passport and driver's license (non-EU) ?? Worth naming the driver, even if they reside in UK (don't need to say that?) ?? It's a legal address overseas and current DL.

Under POFA2012, you only to give; "in the case of the driver, an address at which the driver for the time being resides or can conveniently be contacted;"

So long as they can be contacted at the address then the RK has fulfilled their obligations. However you will have to do this before they issue court proceedings.

    Thank you Castle.

We've not received anything and had been wondering what might happen - as we didn't get the LBCCC and if there has been anything processed then it hasn't reached us (just moved).

HOWEVER, I am happy to report that the Welcome Break site manager has requested that Parking Eye cancel the charge! WB is awaiting confirmation, so hopefully it will go through. Still nervous that the unanswered (because not received) LBCCC has since turned into a claim, also not received!

Does anyone know whether we would then hear (by post, presumably) from PE themselves that it has been cancelled?

Good. If you have emailed PE to press them to confirm cancellation, they normally reply in a week.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I have just done that - thanks. Will update when we hear back.
  • I am extremely pleased to report that we have received a snail mail letter dated 9 September 2016 from Parking Eye that states only that in reference to the PCN number given "the charges have now been cancelled".

I am sooooo glad I took the advice to keep on emailing (and one call) to the Welcome Break management. (And thanks to Coupon-Mad et al, the information in the Newbies thread was super helpful.)

For anyone referencing this thread in future: I was careful to admit that we had over-stayed but that it was to the benefit of the businesses at the services and that I would appreciate their good will in keeping a regular customer happy. I did offer to pay the parking fee plus £10, but they kindly cancelled (easier, I think).

Good luck to all of you fighting the good fight. I promise not to pay a NTK or PCN from a PPC ... though will very much avoid parking in any place not owned by local councils henceforth!!!

Fantastic! Well done for persevering - it was you who had to do all the work but we have seen people pull cases back from the brink by being really robust with replies and complaints.

Great news and a great example to others.
