Keep going! you can do this!!x

Thank you! This is going to be where having a diary to be held accountable to come's in handy, I think - the many icecream vans that I passed today were soo tempting!

  • Had to buy more fruit for work this morning (and a Freddo slipped in there too...) - now down to 90p in my purse

  • I'm viewing August as a 'figuring it out' month - which is good, as I'd totally forgotten about £15 of charity donations that go out at the beginning of the month  - added them into The Spreadsheet (capital letters mandatory) .

I've also realised that I really need to budget for a massage every couple of months, just like I do haircuts. This isn't for pleasure - it's a necessary evil to keep my back and shoulder muscles vaguely limber - I tense them up when I run (even when I conciously try not to) , and am terrible at remembering to stretch after a workout :o

Despite the additional spends, it's all not looking too bad - My OD will probably be bang on £715 again by payday on Wednesday, but I should have a positive balance by the end of November, if I don't overspend elsewhere.

I'm going away to a festival next Weekend - I'm a complete lightweight drinking-wise, so I suspect food will make up the most of my spends there, but I'm going to try to keep it to £50, and recoup that from general spends throughout the month. We'll see how that works out!

  • If you need it budget for it, I would do the same.

Oh enjoy your festival when it comes, you will definitely manage to recoup those funds during the month.

Thank you! I'm hoping this weather holds up! I'm in The North and it's gorgeous, so hopefully it'll be even better in The South!

  • Right - it's payday, and for once I feel like I've got my financial **** together. I've managed to save myself £15 / month by cancelling the 'pack' on my current account (which I don't use) and also by reducing my mobile contract (I'm with a month-by-month provider and it's fabulous - I can change my bundle each month, so have gone down from a £15 bundle to a £10 one).

I've also decided on a Get-Debt-Free-Quicker strategy: when I get out of my overdraft (should be November), I'll work to a zero balance and chuck anything left over at the end of the month to the credit cards. Then, when they're done, I'll do the same but digitally chuck it into savings. I have a 0% in-credit interest current account, but I really like my bank and its banking facilities, so whilst I realise it's stupid, I'm not going to faff about with switching.

This all looks terribly organised on paper, so lets see how it turns out!

I got to do some guilt-free spending today - all gifts that come out of my gifts budget, but it was still fun :rotfl:

  • Good for you, it helps when you feel like you got it together.

Well done on the savings you made, may seem small but they all add up!

Love the Get-Debt-Free-Quicker-Strategy - you can do it!

  • First of the month, and most of my Direct Debits / Standing Orders have gone out of my account, just a few stragglers left now. Might look into seeing whether I can get the payment date for those switched to the 1st too, so that everything's done and dusted for the rest of the month.

Off on my jollies in an hour or so - the cat's been dropped off on her holiday's (it's always heartbreaking leaving her there, but they take such good care of her - they let her walk up and down the corridor so that she can judge the other cats - her favourite pastime :rotfl:)

BF and I have agreed on moderation re: the festival - we'll stop off at a supermarket and get some stuff on the way, but then also allow ourselves to buy some food on site. We're also taking that money out of the joint account, so my £50 should go much further :money:

Here's hoping the weather stays this lovely all weekend, and that my MSE resolve holds up!
