Good for you ForeverSomeday - an action plan is the best place to start! A little at a time.
As my Dad used to say to me (and now my husband says it too)

"How do you eat an elephant?"

    "One bite at a time"

I really like that, :D I think I'll use it myself, hope you don't mind.:o

Hi there :D I find lists and going and doing something in the garden (which is where I'm going once my tea's drunk) are great motivators ;)

Additionally, when I'm feeling really sluggish, asking DH which 2 things he'd like me to have done by the time he gets home from work, is good (even though they are sometimes left until 5pm :o )

We have an existing thread on motivation, so I'll add this to keep ideas together.

That's one of Mr LW's favourite sayings, too.:D The other one is that the job that takes the longest is the one you don't start.

Forever.. Hello.. and welcome to the nutty forum!!

You are not going crazy, loosing your mind or going anywhere near a breakdown.. you are being very hard on yourself... Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was the mess in your house.. there is no perfect wand wave you can do it make it all disappear... I hope to be corrected on this one and taught the trick because I am a lazy mare.

You are heavily pregnant in hot sticky weather (been there done that.. my sons birthday is 29th September..) I also have a couple of summer babies.. one born in the middle of a massive heatwave. Relax.... deep breaths to calm yourself and just chill..

In a couple of weeks you'll start nesting and you'll think your pants are on fire!!.. go with it..

We here on OS have our very own shiny (slightly dusty and a little bit musty) flylady thread SEE HERE please come join us..

There is a room tackled each day and in time it does help.. plus it is quite gratifying to know someone else out there hates cleaning their loo yet they are doing it too.

Eating little and often is best for you and baby so snacking is fine!!
I would FORCE myself to get a shower.. quite literally because it always made me feel so much better.. Buy yourself a treat.. new smellies, scented candles to make your bathtime more special.. have hubby give you a massage.. it all helps..

I hope you find your mums support helpful and try writing a list of things YOU want to achieve!!! and ask your mum to help you.. even silly things like..

Before the beginning of September you would like to have cleaned every cupboard in the kitchen.. your mum will help..

I always find too that if someone starts a job I join in.

Make sure you are getting enough vitamins etc as well.. I do recommend taking a supplement towards the end of pregnancy.. I have 8 children so am not entirely unknowledgable.. and I found having a supplement towards the end of the pregnancy made a massive difference to the way I felt, before and after the birth.. Make sure you are getting enough sleep.. even if that means a 2 hour snooze in an afternoon and make sure you are eating.. just a sandwich or some toast or something new!! you could make up a batch and freeze some when you cook an evening meal.. failing that.. ready meals are a suitable alternative to nothing.. I would have a frozen lasagne or cottage pie for lunch.. 5 minutes in the microwave and you have a hot meal.. it might not be much but it is fine.. add a few bits of fruit to graze on and you'll do fine.

Also.. have the MW check you aren't anaemic.. it is very common at this stage in pregnancy so do get it checked... Tell her you are feeling a bit low.. she hears it every day it is nothing new and you aren't a failure or a freak.. you are perfectly normal.. how scary is that?? She may ask you to go to an extra appointment or 2.. but at least you'll be dressed that day!!.. See.. a good thing?!.. well .. it is if you like being dressed.. ;)

and lastly.. big big hugs to you.. your body is doing the biggest thing it will ever have to do.. trust it.. go with what you need to do.. even if you eat tree bark and sniff soap flakes.. feel free to yell out if you need a hand to hold or an ear to chew.

Oh.. another thing.. (I tend to waffle).. Do you have any friends with small children? Tootle along to theirs or to toddler group with them.. get a feel for them, people WILL talk to you.. just go for a chat and a coffee.. loads of the surestarts run groups for pregnant mums so if you can get there it might be worth asking about one of those..

I know this is a long waffle.. but if you think anyone can be of any use I am certain none of us would mind you PMing and would be only too glad to help you.. !!

Start small. de clutter first. just one armchair, or room corner or pile of newspapers. then STOP take a break for an hour or two and do a bit more. buy an egg timer and set it for 10 mins or 15 mins. only do htever it is until the timer goes off. can be washing up, cleaning the sink, mopping the floor. when the timer goes off stop. suprisingly quickly you will notice a big difference and this gives motivation to do more and more.

I went on the flylady website as someone suggested - I never looked in the flylady thread before! And I have started to Shine My Sink, which means I have an hour free to write my list. I have filled up the dishwasher with everything I could fit into it and opened the windows to make a nice breeze through the house and I am feeling much better.

I think I will ring my midwife tomorrow too because I am on iron supplements and come to think of it, I've been more tearful and emotional since then so perhaps I need something else to balance it out.

Oh and pigpen - I don't know anyone with children who lives here but I have just remembered that now I am 7 months I am invited to my local NCT bumps and babies group and I think that is worth the bus fare so will make sure I go along next week!

Candygirl - you and me both! This is my chance to get my act together before school restarts! I know from long experience that within the first week back I'll be too tired to do anything, but I'm hoping that if the system is up and running it'll be simpler to keep the house clean and tidy! Good luck to all of us!

As it has already been pointed out you are heavily pregnant in hot sticky weather, dont be so tough on yourself. When I was having DS I think I slept most of the last three month. Your timetable idea is a good one but remember being heavily pregnant will take it out of you, so dont go getting yourself to down if you find you cant stick to it.

I was only sitting here last nigh thinking how unmotivated I've become though I meal plan and buy all the stuff I find that Ive stopped cooking and have given in to DD and DS's Fussyness:o. I was folllowing the flylady thread but my depression has come back just getting through the working day is enough for me at the minute. Though as my contract ends on the 31st July I'm hoping that I'll be able be flying again in no time :D .

Going to NCT bumps and babies, sounds good go for it!!!
