Supermarket "bump"
Options
I've just had the father in law on the phone, both he & another car were reversing out of their respective parking spaces... neither saw the other & bump.
Small scuff on the rear corner of FILs & slight dent on a panel of the other. FIL isn't going to claim for his damage.
Am I right in thinking this will be 50-50 as they were both reversing at the time?

I would say 50/50. That is why we're I work and some other companies all cars must be reverse parked as it is deemed to be safer to drive out of a parking space. It does make loader shopping harder.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Yep, neither were paying any attention, so 50/50.0

How did the other driver handle it?
Might be best to agree to deal with your own damage, go separate ways and pretend it never happened0 -

Even though that's in breach of motor insurance policy terms, that is exactly what I would do and I suspect, what a very large percentage of other drivers would do as well.
If you report it, even as "info only, no claim being made", the only people who get any benefit would be the insurance companies themselves.0 -

Given the number of drivers who think it's ok to brake test people, with the "it won't cost me anything" mentality, I strongly doubt that most drivers realise just how car insurance really works.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Absolutely agree but sadly the other party is going through their insurance so there's no wriggle room.... ah well!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Is the driver expecting they are not too blame :rotfl:
But they will find out at renewal time it was not worth it.
Problem is now your father in law would also have to inform his insurance, I think, anyone confirm?0 -

Yes he does sadly! The incident will be on the central database now and a claim possibly being passed on to his insurer with a view of split liability. Best to report before the other parties insurance send the claim0
