Jet2 holidays seat allocation

I am a little bit cross with Jet 2 holidays today and needed to vent. I checked in online this morning for our holiday leaving on 8 September as check in opened early today and I wanted to try to get seats together (we are two adults, one 4 year old and one infant). When opting for the 'free seats' it warned me that seats were allocated individually from the back. Fine, I thought, I will take a chance. On the way out, I was lucky enough to get seats together, great. On the return leg, however, my husband and son were seated at 29E and 29F and I was seated at 30C with my infant daughter. The next screen gave me the option to change my seats, individually, for a fee. I could see that 29D was available so, although I was slightly miffed at having to pay to sit in it given that it was available, I chose to change my seat to sit next to my husband for £8.50. It then came up with a warning that seats 29E and 29F had now been allocated to somebody else so I would have to choose new seats for them and pay for them all - Total £25.50. However, when I clicked back (thinking stuff it, I will just take 30C), it had reallocated us back into 29D,E and F for a cost of £8.50. So to cut a long, rambling story short, we are all seated together for £8.50. If I hadn't clicked back I would have paid £25.50 to sit together! I felt this was very sneaky of Jet2. Has anybody else had this experience? (please note that I am NOT complaining about having to pay to sit with my children as that thread has been done to death!! I am annoyed that they told me that my family's seats had been reallocated when they clearly hadn't)

It's not a person doing it, just a bunch of code running on a box somewhere.
What could have happened is someone else was checking in at the same time and got allocated 29E and 29F as you'd freed them up, the other person then decided to dump them, freeing them up again.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
I only got allocated two sets of seats.
No matter what time of day, when I went on to check-in, it was always the same two.0 -

I didn't do anything to 29E and 29F though? I just changed 30C to 29D.0 -
I've just been a 'victim' of the jet2 seating pleasantries.
I had successfully checked in a week ago for my family X3 and got seats together :j
So when I checked in today for my daughter's flights X2 with baby, it sat them a row apart window seat each. Not great with a baby. Surprise surprise, there were 2 seats next to each other towards the front available for purchase.
£25 for that privilege, leaves a sour taste
Flight back also a row apart but in the aisle seats so not as bad and living with that.
If people want to pay up front for particular seats, then that's fine, I haven't got a problem with that. But once the check in starts they should try and allocate you the BEST seats available for your configuration. It's not hard for a computer to work it out.
To seat you apart and then offer you the map and a chance to change to seats that are clearly available and together is taking the p***0 -

HI. Thanks for sharing this. I thought Jet2 had stopped splitting people up. Obviously not.0
