🎶🎶 22 days of my contract to go, 22 days left to go 🎶🎶 17 work shifts left, 4 hours today, 8 hours tomorrow. Then two whole days off in a row 😲😲😲. My favourite colleague is on holiday for 3 weeks, so I won't be working with her again after Saturday. I will be gone when she returns. She is lovely.
For no clearly apparent reason I will be working til midnight a couple of days. Why train me to do a new job the week before I leave?? I don't think they believe that I will not be back...... It does not fit in with my family commitments. Starting work at 4pm means that I don't see the kids when they come home from school. I get home half an hour before they go to bed, or after they have gone to bed, so I only see them between 7-8am. It worked because DH was working from home Sept-Jan, but that stops in a fortnight. Annoyingly I extended my contract by two weeks, which was daft of me because my contract was due to end the night before he starts back on campus. Perfect timing! but I forgot and said Yes because I had 'end of January ' in my head. Oh well, it is only a couple of weeks, and I will be back at home and can bring everything back to order. The whole place is a mess!!
So this morning I am writing threatening CLEAN YOUR BEDROOM post it notes for bedroom doors, cleaning and hoovering communal areas, and bathrooms, putting up a mirror 🪞 and hopefully sorting DS2s passport online (he keeps evading my attempts to photograph him). Then work at 4pm. A plan !!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Sent off an email yesterday morning before work, I figured, a "Happy New Year!! " (and please remember me if you have any work going) email was not too in your face. I now have 3 full weeks and a couple of odd days of work planned in. I will earn in those days more than I would earn in 3 months at the T of Max, but the Max is a regular gig. Swings and Roundabouts. I would rather work hard for a short amount of time, and then have free days and fun times, than work hard for less hours, every week.I currently have half the bedrooms (plus mine) clean and tidy and hoovered - the older two I am not sure about. All laundry folded and returned to owners, or neatly piled on the kitchen table waiting for owners to claim it. So I now have a kitchen floor again, as DH had kindly washed and dried it (in the dryer!!!!
) - about 6 loads - and just left piled up laundry baskets all over the place. So that is all gone.
The end is in sight for the Max. It was funny to see the shock on the manager's face when me and workmate had a big hug and promised to keep in touch, and he asked if it was my last shift. I guess some people do not make friends wherever they go!He just looked so confused! Meh, you are either a people person or you are not.

Not quite on the same level Mark, more mundanely though, so far I have a very heavy mirror on the wall at the top of the stairs (it is properly heavy, it came with proper heavy duty wire hangings ! not just the usual shonky string), and the two very large windows in my bedroom have had the sealant removed and then resealed in a bid to stop the howling ghost every time the wind blows. Annoyingly, as soon as the sealant is removed, the wail stops, draught has free access, so it is hard to tell if it has worked, but tonight will tell! Anyway, for the grand price of £1.38 two more jobs are off the list, and I wonder why I did not get on and do it sooner4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Could you not persuade the Maximus job to take on DS1 instead? Tell them they can even have him full time! Nights and all!I was chatting with a friend recently who reminded me of the time her eldest decided that school life wasn't for him, college wasn't going to be "his thing" either so he declared he'd get a job...3 months down the line and he was barely ever out of bed during daylight hours and slunk off to see friends at night. They'd had the "you must get a job or go back to education" chats, they'd got him sorted with a pile of CV's but still no effort was being made so she told him on the Sunday evening that he needed to be up and ready to leave the house on the mo day morning at 9.30 as they had a surprise for him, he was up, dressed and excited at the thought of something treatworthy. She led him out the front door with his eyes shut, closed and locked the door, handed him a rucksack with a packed lunch in and a big pile of CV's and enough money to buy a return bus ticket into town.
She had removed his door keys from his keyring and told him straight. "I'm off to work, I'll be home by 4.30pm, you have food, you have water and you have money, go find a job". This will continue every day until you find a job, you will leave the house when I do, you won't be allowed back in until I'm home, what you get up to between now and then is your business but I can at least pretend to myself that you are out looking for a job".
It took him 3 days to realise she wasn't kidding. He started work the next Monday.12 -

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

More stuff has left the house, gone to the recycling point at the tip, books into the fabulous media container, old tv (before freeview) that had been stuck in a corner, a few old electronic machines that had given up the ghost, all gone off to be used for parts and bits and things.About half the back room carpet can now be seen. Before that, I would say less than 1/8th was visible - sadly a lot of it is still covered in DH's paperwork that I can't touch, anyway, I now have half a carpet again!! Will have to wait until he is out of the house again before sneaking back into his 'office' - so sometime next week then
.
I have sorted out some gold to be sent away.I am motivated to tidy and clean and remove things, but work is getting in the way!! I am back on shift at 4, and am working most of the day the next two days. Roll on Sunday, but DH will be around the house, although Monday looks promising for shifting things, but I am at the foodbank for quite a bit of that time.Anyway, I treated myself to a pair of boots from the Mann called Deich shop in the sale, for sub £20. I will NOT have wet feet in February. I refuse!!Off to put my face on and go to work.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Worked on Sunday in lieu of next Saturday - so now I finish a day earlier. They have given me a £10 gift card
and a nice card to say thank you. Looking forward to having more time to do stuff, to be honest. I do not know how working people get anything done!!
So this morning, my day off, my nice relaxing morning turned into 7am waking smaller kids up, 7.40 shooing them out the door, and making a lovely cup of coffee, then leaving the house to rescue DS2 from a bus stop at 8.20 because his bus to college had not come and he was going to be late, quick nip into Herr Leedl for cereal and milk, and scoring a magic box (potatoes, cherries, blueberries, a red pepper, 2 pak choi, a green cabbage, 3 oranges and 2 apples and a lot of carrots - just what I needed!!) and buying laundry powder and washing up liquid.Went and did my volunteering shift, came home, and it started hailing, so bunged a load of sausages and onions in a pan for sandwiches, as I figured poor DH was going to be both cold and wet, when he got home. A cold lunch was not going to work, so cleaned out the fridge, did last night's supper dishes, and the breakfast dishes, and then it snowed for 15 minutes!!, then descaled the kettle and the coffee maker (orange light of shame was blinking at me) and chucked the waste descaler water down the loo, and into the sink, so that is now shiny and clean too. Broke up an old under bed cardboard drawer and that is now in the recycling, 3 more bags of card and glass recycling have gone out, but only one small bag of actual rubbish in the bin. Folded all my and DH's laundry from the kitchen floor pile. White school shirts are in the machine going round and round. Now a cup of tea before heading out for volunteering shift #2 via Herr Al for lunchbox tat and the things on the list I forgot in t'other shop . Honestly I feel llke I need a nap already!!Four more work days (in a row) to go until Freedom!! I have daily lists written for the rest of the week.I found a carrier bag of Step-Gran's paperwork, which I will go through tonight, as much of it is now not relevant. So that will be nice to see it go.
