I was back at the dentist this morning for an hour.

Still no bill (it is going to be £56) and I am booked in for another 40 minutes so they can poke around at an old filling just to make sure it is ok.

The receptionist told me it would be a while before I could get an appointment. The dentist is on holiday in September, for ALL of September. Ridiculous.

Took another load of recyclables to the tip this morning on the way to the dentist, I could have just stuck it in the bin, but decided to save it from landfill and the tip is only 5 minutes away. Hallway now nearly clear. umming and ahh-ing over a long tall mirror I dont think I want, but have a suspicion that as soon as I get rid of it, I will find a place that needs one.

Shunted the money for the double glazing into a savings account so it is out of my bank account and all on its own in the savings account.

Mortgage statement came through online. We are now 66% LTV on the mortgage. So we have paid off 9% in 15 months. Not too shoddy, all things considered.

I really want to ask 'why? does it affect the quote?'

but soon I am just going to say 'he's a pole dancer'.

    :rotfl::rotfl: brilliant.

Well done on the mortgage overpayment, amazing amount in such a short time. I'd intended we would be overpaying by now when we moved last year but having things done to the house means no chance of that yet.

Just got the cc bill. I am having to pay for the few days away in Cheddar, the cancelled trip to the Peaks, this week's trip to Norfolk and 4 days in Snowdonia at October half term. All on the same month's bill.

I thought it would save the in-laws driving for 5 hours after the boat trip so booked into a YH 40 mins from the port in a place with no wifi. but only 5 minutes from Bangor and the seaside. So I did. They would see the kids for 4 days (emphasis on see them. not talk to them or do anything with them). They have now decided to come over early and drive around to visit other people. I was trying to save them the drive!! I can't do right for doing wrong. #
They want their children to bother with them and they will always be disappointed in this.
I can't make it better, all I can do is show them what they are missing out on.
It is not my fault their kids are the way they are, but it is a case of 'not my circus, not my monkeys'.

Spent the morning, and 1.5kg of plaster filler, up a ladder filling holes, now I am out of filler but have 2 filled walls and need to buy more. Will be worth it if it means no plasterer needed /only a quick skim,

This afternoon will be spent baking a cake and some scones and making a pasta sauce. Using up lots of ends of things from the pantry as part of this month's NST Sextilis challange. Tomorrow will be a vegetable stew with all the veg left in the fridge so it is gone before we go away (except for the ocra - I don't even class that as food - DH loves the stuff).

Anyway, going to have a cuppa and indulge in a little kitchen therapy so I can ice the cake when it is cool and it will be ready for the kids after their dinner.

Oh, and I have a £5 Amaz0n voucher on the way for guessing all the football results completely wrong on one of my websites. 2 seconds of clicking for about £20 a year - it goes on Xmas presents!

Also got a gift card for £11. random pence from the postal survey people, they will top it up every month that I tell them how many pieces of post I get a week and what stamp is on them. Another low effort but regular small payment thing I do.

It's about time I won something again, it has been a while..... watch this space.

Would you feel any better if a window bloke, on finding out that my adult son lives with me, said he had to get his approval (I mean just to quote!). Why? I asked because it's my house & I'm paying for it not him. My son (got to love him) said why ask me I don't know anything about replacement windows. I went with someone else. I enjoyed telling them too when they followed up.

I have told them I am paying and it has nothing to do with DH, one guy said, 'but what if he doesn't like them and won't pay?' again, I am the one who is paying, not him, and if he doesn't like them, he can buy his own windows. It won't happen, he could not give a stuff about windows, he would not ever do it himself, and after we were held hostage by a window salesman for nearly two hours and he just would not leave, DH has quite reasonably decided he never wants to be bothered by windows again.

I on the other hand, prefer not to have waving curtains cos the gaps between the window and window sill is like sitting next to an air conditioning fan.

Still, if a man was told he was not able to buy double glazing without a note from his mum, I think there would be uproar. I wonder if it is because I am a housewife? It is not really seen as a proper job is it. Cooking, cleaning, child care for 4 kids and an academic and taxi driver plus project manager. Best job though. Shhhh don't tell anyone, no pension though.

You mean project manager, machine driver (car), skilled at multitasking, multi function machine operator and highly honed at diagnostic analysis (why doesn't the effing washing machine work), attention to detail and top numeracy skills plus self motivated, self starter and proficient in first aid and survival techniques. .... aka 'a housewife and mother'
