Nationwide Repairs - Full repair not finished
Options
Hi,
Long story short, sitting at the lights and the car in front decides to reverse into me. She accepts all liability and her insurance paid for the repairs. Got the car back, however due to the weather I was unable to inspect it upon delivery. Fella said it's fine to just check it when it's better to do so. I've come to inspect it today and found that the area where the damage occurred still has a massive chip in it. I've compared the photos i've took of the damage at the time and the after repair ones and the chip is present in both.
Unfortunately they're shut at the moment so I'm unable to phone them to discuss, but correct me if I'm wrong but surely this should also have been repaired? (photos in the links below)

When you collected the car did you sign anything to say you inspected it or that you were happy with the repairs?"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

It would make it a lot easier to compare if both photos were taken from similar angles.
Yes, that certainly SHOULDn't be there - whether it's part of the damage or not is pretty irrelevant. There's a bit of pre-paint prep got missed. Shouldn't be hard for them to just do a localised repair, though.0 -
Best of luck, OP - I had the misfortune to encounter Nationwide once and they're a bit of a shower. Managed to cause a whole lot of other chips and scratches to the paint (nowhere near the damaged area), didn't fix the damage properly, left a part off the car when it was returned, and to top it off had driven it over 40 miles from their workshop back to me, rather than using a flatbed/trailer. They had another go at fixing it - and put right the other damage they'd caused - but still didn't get it straight. Never answered the phone or returned calls either.
I ended up telling the insurers that Nationwide wouldn't be touching it again, and they could pay for it to be fixed at a local bodyshop instead.
Go back to your insurer, don't waste your time trying to contact Nationwide. They should arrange for it to be fixed properly.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
@Clive, I signed paperwork hastily because of the weather and the mechanic was standing outside in the pouring rain. Foolish I know, but when he said its fine to check it after i've signed i took his word for it.
I emailed them yesterday and got a phonecall from them today, they said they're going to pick it up on Thursday (assume this means they'll fix it and not just say it wasn't part of the damage) and are giving me a courtesy car in the meantime, no questions asked on the call other than what time is best for a pickup. Fingers crossed!0 -

It would be pointless the op taking this up with his insurer ( as they have no interest as no claim has been made against them)
The op needs to fight this out with the repairer (but also let the third party insurer know about the problem)
Next time don't sign anything like this till you have done an inspection and remember you don't have to be pushed to a repairer chosen by an insurer. It's your right to have the repairs done at your choice of repairer.0 -
If they are collecting it and leaving courtersey car their after service doesn't sound that bad. Although will wait to make judgement until resolved fully0

Update to this: got the car back today, all fixed and no questions asked. They provided a courtesy car in the mean time as well. They've even given the car a quick valet inside and out. Can't complain with the service (other than the incomplete repair originally)0
