Virgin Media Late Payment Charges

  • This was my main question though:

I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but I wondered if anybody had successfully claimed back late payment charges from Virgin Media?

So what I am asking really, has anybody ever successfully challenged them, such as in the bank charges cases.
  • A few years ago I had it cancelled because I was a couple of days late paying - but it was an absolute one-off and I was very nice to the advisor on the phone.

But I imagine if it is every month that you are late paying you are on to a non-starter.

I fail to understand why you cannot put that amount to one side, as it is a monthly bill of the same amount every month, to pay the bill when it becomes due. I also see you say you can afford to pay it, but if you are getting late payment charges every month (and possibly bank charges too) because you do not have the money on the date it is due then I would have to disagree with that.

Time for a re-think either of your money management or of the contract and its costs ( do you have TV included too - that is a lot of money for BB and a phone - especially when Virgin discount for packages).
  • Totally missed my point. I do have the money every month so it isn't a problem. TV is included in the package. You have missed my point that I have tried to move the payment date. If I could move it then it would fit my money schedules. Also, how can I get bank charges if I'm not paying by direct debit? I refuse to set up a direct debit and have done for other suppliers too as I simply do not trust any of them.
  • This was my main question again though.

If someone can answer this please.

I did answer it - I said I had once when I was late paying once. How many are we talking about here?
  • I feel I am about to get told off, however its something i have been arguing about for well over a year. They won't refund more than 3 in a year anyway. However what I am saying is basically can they be challenged for a full refund of ALL late payment charges.

Your answer only challenges them for one late payment. I have challenged them on a few occasions. Some are willing to remove it, others aren't. The staff always say they can see my point too even when they say they can't remove it.

Totally missed my point - if you have the money, say for example on 31st of the month - and you know the payment is due , say on 15th of next month - why do you not keep that amount aside until 15th of next month - for example. To me that seems obvious.

It is of course your choice of how you prefer to pay, although it is cheaper to pay by direct debit and there is the direct debit guarantee as well. However I guess it is Virgin's choice of how they choose to manage their payment services; but it may well be that if you continue to pay late continually there is always the chance that they will lose patience.

I'm not even going to answer your response as your responses are coming across confrontational when I've explained.

Also, besides, you have totally missed my question. Leave it please for someone else to answer as I don't need a schoolteacher talking to me thank you very much.

Tough ... CC's replies were thoughtful and gave good advice. And you didn't even answer my earlier question. (Making multiple posts without quoting who you're replying to means your posts are difficult to interpret).

If this is the way you respond to people trying to help - I'm out.

If you are sure it's been asked many times before why not use the 'search' button and see what it comes back with?
