Using your mobile number in Comps

I have a separate pay as you go phone. I've had precisely zero spam calls so far, but I've had a few win notifications and one was the most valuable prize I've won.
Like Technoflump, I also refer to it as my Batphone heh. It was an old phone, but when that broke, I replaced it with a cheap handset.
I did once receive a text from some poor dude that appeared to have been given the wrong number by a date.Restarted comping July 28th, 20190 -
I just use my regular number, can't be bothered carrying 2 phones around with me on the off chance of a win. Spam calls have been minimal and I usually just tell them to !!!!!! off if I'm busy or give them loads of fake details if its about PPI or accident claims. I tell them i'm bruce wayne and I live in gotham and get into a lot of accidents haha. They hang up on me and dont usually call back0

Thanks All and did you setup a separate email address as per the tips, or just used your normal one ?
Also when they call do they ever leave a voicemail if you miss the call ?
Hell yes. That's essential lol. I have two now as the first email was a bit long - I still check it. I get HUNDREDS every day. Tonnes and tonnes of newsletters. I never tick a box unless I absolutely have to, but it has still resulted in loads. I usually keep on top of them and get each one down to zero (I have my own third personal one), but I've gone a bit fruitloop the last two weeks and couldn't be bothered for a couple of days and suddenly I find I have over 900 to clear. I do a hundred or so then get bored, then by the time I do them again, there are another 100 lol. I do try to unsubscribe regularly to the non-usuals, but it's an endless task...
My VM isn't on so they don't leave a message. At least I don't think it is!

I just put my landline number in .... in most cases it is accepted.
No idea if I am disqualified from any competition for doing this as I have no evidence either way.0 -

Most of my wins are notified by email, some by letter and only a small number on the Batphone. The last time I had a phone notification was from Metro Radio a year ago when I won £200. I did get a call in June this year from Napoleon Grills when I won a bbq on the Red Tractor promotion, but that wasn't a notification but just arranging delivery.
I also have a separate email address to my own one which does get a lot of spam even though I always tick the boxes to opt out, it doesn't bother me as it's a disposable email address. I did change to another email at the start of this year as over the last year or so my wins were decreasing and I had this feeling it may have been blacklisted. But since changing to a new address the wins are getting even fewer, so I don't think it was blacklisted, just harder to win this year. I will probably go back to my old email as I preferred it anyway, it was also a lot shorter to type too.
hey,
what phone do you use and what sim do you use for it?

Rather than buying one, don't you (or family or friends) have an old brick lying around in a drawer somewhere? You only basically need it to be capable of receiving calls and perhaps making the odd call or text?0 -
I just use my main mobile and it's fine. The first couple of months of comping I got a few "you've won lottery tickets" "claim back your PPI" type phonecalls, but I would block each number and haven't had any since. They all came from numbers based in Cardiff and somewhere down South.0

what would be the point of not putting your own number? Who would they call if you won a fake number? you want to enter comps you have to put up with spam emails and the risk of the odd spam call. Most say they will only call the winner and i have never had a spam call from a comp.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

I use my regular number in comps and I use app called "Should I Answer?".
I think I've had maybe 2 unsolicited calls since I put it on my phone 8 months ago.
