EGG PPI claim via barclays

Hi all,

Last October claimed via the Barclays website for an EGG credit card PPI reclaim.

Heard nothing and then this morning I received a text quoting the reference number and saying PPI claim has been successful - I suspect a scam - but there is no links or anything in the text - here are the contents

[FONT=&quot]We’ve now paid the refund on your PPI claim ref A******** and you should receive this in the next 10 days. Contacts us if you do not receive this

number is +4422725297 - which does seem to be related to Barclays, but there are a few complaints about it..

Suspect a scam of sorts enticing me to reply - but details appear to be correct..

any comments

cheers

    Any comments?

Yes just ring them and ask them. Without trying to be trite, nobody on here knows your case, just ring them up and ask for confirmation or wait for the payment and letter confirming

Banks don't send text messages about PPI complaints, nor do they tell you to contact them if you don't receive anything.

It looks like a Claims Management Company trying to hook you up as a customer or, as you say, a scam.
Either way, it's spam and you should ignore it.

Why have you left it almost 10 months without getting in touch with Barclays about the status of your complaint?

The banks generally turn around PPI complaints within eight weeks, if you didn't even receive an acknowledgement it looks like they didn't receive your complaint.

    Contact them direct.
  • Now very strange..

I phoned barclays and they confirmed that the text indeed was sent out by them.

They have not upheld my PPI claim (details to follow in post) but due to the time it took to "investigate" - they have sent a cheque for £50 for my troubles.

    Sounds very strange to me?

    What is strange about that?

Nothing seems strange to me. You made a complaint. They have rejected the complaint but acknowledge they took too long and have given a payment for poor service.

  • What is strange is the text, suggest that the ppi claim was upheld. Anyway will await the letters and see what they say.

I didn't mean ring that number, it's an automated text machine :)

Hiya - this is authentic from Barclays! I got this exact text message from them confirming my PPI claim had been successful and was an EXTREMELY HAPPY BUNNY when a refund cheque for £2500 turned up. This was a for a Barclayloan PPI claim though. Hope you get a fab cheque in a few days!

I wasn't aware Banks had started using text messages about PPI complaints.
However, it must really annoying that you are getting conflicting information about it, especially if your complaint has taken almost a year.
  • Hi there

I wondered if anyone could help. I received a text today from Barclays saying that I have a PPI refund paid and I should receive it within the next 10 days and to contact them if I don't receive this.

My gut instinct was to ignore it as spam but I recently left Barclays and wondered if it was anything to do with that.

I spoke to someone at Barclays and he said it wasn't legit yet I saw the post on here by ginquinn saying that he/she got the same message and actually received a cheque afterwards.

Any help would be massively appreciated.

    Thank you
