This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone.

Wide awake already. I decided last night to steam clean the kitchen and bathroom floors this morning so spent most of the night doing them in my dreams. Whacked already. :rotfl:

My meeting yesterday was good as the person who is teaching the same two units in semester one as me (in a different location) shared all her resources with me. And the new unit isn't being taught until semester two so there's plenty of time. Somehow being retired has turned into being semi- retired. Just as long as doesn't mean streams of meetings again. Actually my meeting turned into a discussion about gins and gin parlours, my kind of meeting.

The sky is very pink right now, shepherds won't be liking it. My friends don't arrive until about 4pm and I've got a hospital run to do at 2pm. Think the woman is just going to the doctor so she won't be long.

One of my long lost cousins is coming over to Glasgow (from Hamburg) in October so has asked me to book her into an hotel so I'll do that this morning too. Mum wants some stuff ordered from Lakeland which is another chore to do. I'm just a PA sometimes, at least it's not a difficult 'job'.

I've got eggs for breakfast and chicken thighs for later. There will be an evening meal with my visitors but we'll go out for that.

Another great day in the swimming pool with silver medals. I know exactly how hard the swimmers work so am really chuffed.

Good luck to those with interviews. Get better soon to those who are poorly.

Happy Wednesday to everyone.

Good morning, it has rained in the night and now quite cool.
I shan't be at work for a few days, just not well enough so have some appointments to cancel. I've had a strange night, couldn't get to sleep, then s bit of sleep for a couple if hours, got up, messed about and then went back to bed. Now feel as though I've been squashed by a steamroller.
I posted at the end of yesterday's thread to tell you of my self inflicted but accidental injury and to send messages to various others.
I think I'll probably see if I can get a bit more sleep later.
Hope everyone has a good day and apologies for being a misery
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning all

Csarina, how terrible, I had to get Pals involved when my MIL was in hospital, her care was appaling.

AOD, ouch, how nasty for you.

Stress, stress, panic, panic, well that's my moan for the day.

I've listed all my '50 Shades equipment on eBay and all my extra bedding on Freegle, lets hope it goes.

I'm filling up the neighbours bin and the bin of the person who's cats I'm feeding as well as my own, they will both be emptied before they return from their holidays and it saves me a trip to the tip.

I can no longer use the tip that is a couple of miles away. I now have to use one that is a 32 mile round trip and they don't accept rubbish, only recyclable items.

We are looking after 3 toddlers today, DD1 is helping DD2 empty her garage as it is full of stuff and they are intending to extend into it.

Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone

Gers - thanks for starting us off.

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, but very cloudy, dull and overcast, quite chilly too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready to go to work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was LO roast lamb re-heated in gravy, roast pots, LO cauli/broc cheese, carrots, HG green beans, LO yorkshires and gravy, all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Work yesterday was reasonably quiet, but then manic in places, it's all or nothing so often now! Working all day today as doing the extra hours this afternoon, but I'm then on days off until Monday.

I already have several chores on the "to do" list - will get going with them tomorrow.

Keeps safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:

Thank you Gers for starting us off this morning.
It's quite bright out already so I think it's going to be quite a nice day. I went out with my CMHT lady and we had a good talk about recent events. I feel better now, not so wobbly.

I stayed up late last night talking to DD16, it was lovely to spend some time with her on her own and listen to her thoughts and plans for the future. My girls are all such a blessing to me even though I could cheerfully bang their heads together sometimes.

Hubby has just declared he is too ill for work so has taken himself back to bed. I am happy that he decided that as he has a very upset tummy and it would have been risky to get the bus into work. I hope he feels better soon.

I've taken out a couple of packs of turkey mince and I am going to make some meatballs for tea. I've got some of those laughing cow crave things, you know, the little soft cheese cubes so I am going to put one inside each meatball as a cheesy surprise :D.

My friend is coming over later to show me her new car so the girls will have a tidy round for me. I am finishing off our washing as I write and will make some breakfast in a minute. I have a fancy for an omelette and we have plenty of eggs so happy days.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning folks. The day is starting better than I am. I had a bad night with my never-ending down below problem and feel yuk this morning.

Yesterday didn't go to plan and I got nothing done. A text from DD saw to that and we ended up looking after the two youngest DGDs all day. They are back again this morning as DD is taking eldest DGD and two of her friends to the nearest Vue cinema (10 miles away) and a meal out to celebrate her 12th birthday which is actually tomorrow. ( But DD is working so the treat is a day early)

The two youngest have decided they want to go to our local museum today so that is the plan. It's a lovely place in an old mill owners mansion, which is furnished and decorated just as it would have been in his day. The displays in the other rooms are a delight too. They love playing with the Victorian dolls house and watching the bees in the glass sided hives. Something of interest to them round every corner and lots of hands-on stuff for kids. (As it's free it's a cheap day out too! Though they are allowed to pick a little something from the gift shop!)

Eldest DGD will be here this evening after her day out and all three sleeping over. Then three of them to amuse tomorrow. (Oh the joys of school holidays!!)

Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) where wanted. CSARINA hope you cope ok with DH at home. LAINEY thinking of you too. DUMPLING sad news of your friend. Gell well soon AOD. FLUTTERBY does your absence mean a new baby?! Take care all xx

Morning :hello:

Glad you're feeling a bit better dumpling x

ancientofdays Ouch! Take it easy x

TravellingAbuela I can't believe they haven't found a solution yet! I hope they get something sorted for you very soon x

Scampi is a scammer! How upset or frightened can he really be at people near the house? Not much apparantly. He was at the window barking madly at someone who dared to walk past the house, I marched into the lounge to tell him off. In one swift movement he jumped, turned 180° and landed in a relaxed lying position, front paws crossed and with a perfectly cute held tilt. If he could talk he'd have said “What? It wasn't me!”. I didn't know whether to tell him off or laugh, but I did tell him he was a scamming liar :D

I've got some work to do, I keep putting it off but I should get on with it so I feel like I'm actually earning something, lol. I'll do at least two hours today.

I'm going to sort out the buddleia later, it's 8' tall and very scruffy. It's just finished flowering, you're not supposed to prune it til springtime but it's so messy I've decided to take my chances with it's survival. The chickens can have whatever I cut off, they love looking for bugs and by the time they've finished with it it'll have dried out and I can burn it. I do love a good fire :D

Morning everyone,

Thanks for the thread Gers X

AOD - ouch, that sounds really painful
Dumpling - glad the appointment went well X
Gers - I hope DH had a comfortable night at home.
Lainey - enjoy the tea and good news that you can take mum on Friday X
Tru - your tales of scampi really make me chuckle :)

DH has just left for his next I/v. It's at 9am in the city so back to commuting albeit for one day. The interview yesterday was really tough - not sure about the role either. Today's one is a better fit so we shall see.

Got two loads of washing done and dried yesterday. Lots of non iron garments which is good as I cleared the ironing pile during the day too. Today I will attack the bathrooms and have a little grocery shop to do. Will be working at the church first and seeing what the builders have done so far this week.

Have a good day all and hope we get some baby news from Flutterby soon :)
