Help with upgrading my new pc

Hi all i'm having a basic pc built for me but i'm allowed to upgrade it at my own cost if I pay the difference. I have until tmrw to get back to the company as they are getting shirty about how long i'm taking.
Normally my friend helps me but his not picking up. These are the basic specs:
CLASSIC PC
Fujitsu Esprimo P420 E85+ Desktop Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz 4GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600Mhz 500GB SATA HDD 7200RPM Intel HD 4600 Graphics Windows 8.1 Pro.
Now i've discussed it a little previously with said friend and i'll be upgrading to a Samsung EVO 2.5 inch SSD but haven't decided on 250 or 500gb...? Initially he said the 250gb then he said it might be worth just going all in and getting 500gb.
The RAM will probably be doubled to 8gb but should I go higher? Presuming I will have to upgrade to windows 10 at some point.
i5 processor should be fine to meet my needs especially with the SSD and extra ram improving performance.
The graphics card I will be upgrading to a Nvidia GTX 750Ti which as a casual gamer should meet my needs just fine for a long while but there seems to be different versions of it by different companies? I've found one made by ASUS and one made by a company called gigabyte on Amazon. Are they the same product?
If anyone can think of anything else at all let me know. Maybe their is a better product that only costs a couple pounds more and is worth buying. Maybe upgrading the processor or RAM is very cheap to do anyway? I will also be getting a Noctua fan as I have a big problem with noise from my current pc making my disability worse. But they have about a million fans.
Really need to get this straight by tomorrow so I can call the company, the deadline is Wednesday but if leave it that late they might just say we can't do these upgrades in the 11th hour.
Just to confirm I'm looking for a decent middle of the road pc to last me quite a few years. I won't be using any intensive programmes, maybe photo shop at a stretch but very much doubt it.
Really appreciate any and all help.

add the SSD for the os & programs, leave the hdd in for data storage (i.e. to keep phots, music etc. on). 8GB ram and a gtx750Ti will see you more than right for casual gaming

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

It's mad to buy a PC with 8.1 as the upgrade to 10 Pro will now cost £189, get it with Windows 100 -

For info:
In a Reddit post, a Windows Subreddit moderator with the username Swaggy_McSwagSwag wrote:Assistive technologies are for those with disabilities and who cannot use a computer in a conventional manner (e.g. narrators for the blind, eye tracking machines for those unable to move a mouse, suck and puff machines, etc). Unless you use those, please do not use the link floating about to late upgrade.Source:
As it stands, that method of upgrading is based on an honor rule. However, having spoken with MS earlier today, they inform me that within the next couple of weeks that webpage and tool will be removed and instead require you to contact MS support directly to upgrade this way. This is being done, to, (direct quote) “stop people who are currently abusing the tool”.

Wow 7 replies but i'm just heading out,
I thought the free upgrade would around a while longer, it's hassling me to upgrade on my current win7 pc. Oh well.
I don't understand the post on assistive devices, can disable people still upgrade for free? I'm getting this stuff through the university disability team/ bursary system.
Will be cheaper/better to leave their current SATA drive in and add a 250gb HDD or cheaper just to have one massive 500gb SSD?
Thanks for all the help.0 -
use a ssd drive to keep your PROGRAMMES on , with your usage , a 120g will suffice , and either a good fast secondary drive <phototo-films-music> (western digital black?) either 500g or 1tSave a Rachael
