Help!!

Options
We recently got a new Worcester Bosch combi boiler installed in our loft to replace the old one, which is in the loft. At great expense!

It's a block of 6, we're at the top with access to the loft. Access to the loft I think is also through the stairwell.

The boiler was always in the loft before.

Housing officer was called in prior to new boiler fitting to check a separate issue (hole in the roof due to birds). He never mentioned anything at the time...

He returned today and said that the loft is communal space and the boiler should not be there - it could hamper the sale of the flat....!! Can you believe it!?

If he's right.. who has liability for the costs of this!? Should the original boiler fitter have known? I'm sure many people have boilers in lofts like this..

What can we do... this is going to cost a LOT. Plus, there's barely any room whatsoever in our kitchen, where this guy has suggested we put it (and would have to have another hole drilled in the wall).

This whole thing is a total joke. There has to be a way around it.

Girlfriend is going through chemo treatment for bowel cancer. It's the LAST thing we need.

Many thanks for your help. We're in Scotland, by the way. She owns the flat.

Most likely your responsibility, because you're the ones who paid to have it fitted there.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • If you have only replaced the boiler, in the place where the original boiler used to be, what can be the problem?

What has any possible sale of the flat to do with a Housing Officer? The flat belongs to your girlfriend.

If there is any fault, it would presumably be with the Housing Officer's employers (council, housing association???) for allowing the original boiler to be housed there.

Of course, with you being in Scotland, it may all be very different.
